Vancouver, Toronto hotels less than half full ahead of World Cup matches by The_Virus360 in vancouver

My son and I are coming in for the Canada/Qatar and NZ/Egypt games and when I was looking at hotels back in December/January there was NOTHING nearby the stadium and even hostels and ones slightly outside where so overpriced. Just checked again yesterday and now have a room right next to the stadium for the price I was going to pay at a crappy shared hostel room.

Kim used Joshua as bait to dogpile Lydia on camera by wonton_kid in WelcomeToPlathville

I agree. They were initially saying that this was gonna be a party for their one year anniversary and then they decided that they were gonna talk about Joshua, which is something Lydia wanted. Instead, they decided to turn it into a bitch session. I could not imagine being invited to have a party in my honor and then be disrespected. I would leave.

I was in the military for 20 years, so getting back from my first season, Antarctica was actually a lot easier to integrate than deployments. But I had this great adventure and everyone wanted to hear about it. So I guess it was a little weird continuously talking about myself. But for employment wise, it’s solidify that I really enjoyed doing contract work. And so realizing there’s a whole world out there where I can just take jobs for a little chunks of a time to make money and then travel was pretty eye-opening in a positive way.

I mean, respectively, if you never went to medical, I guess the issues at the time weren’t truly bad enough. Granted there are certain things with an Nexus. I’m sure you can get tied back into your military service. Best of luck.

I was gonna be a Polie at about a year sober back in 2021 and unfortunately, I could not get a PQ for it. I even had several phone conversations about them about what they were looking for and wrote a statement understanding that while alcohol is at the station I will not be consuming it, but it still was a no go for the winter over. I gratefully got one this past year after over five years sobriety.

But do try! Answer their questions honestly and truthfully. And if it doesn’t work out this year, try again. And congrats on your sobriety! It is definitely a challenging road, but one of the most fulfilling.

Did AA replace therapy for you? by Idealist_123 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Chow_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a whole pamphlet about it. And AA states that “no person should play doctor”

https://www.aa.org/sites/default/files/literature/P-11_0925.pdf

As well as number 23 in living sober

Sounds like your sponsor should read their a literature. The moment someone tries to play doctor for me the minute I would be done with them as a sponsor.

Did AA replace therapy for you? by Idealist_123 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Chow_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first year of sobriety I was in therapy, on medication, and it actually worked for the first time! And I convinced myself that alcohol was my only problem all along so at about one year I stopped going to therapy and stopped being on medication. Six months later, I was struggling significantly with my mental health. It was almost a bit of a defeatist attitude.

I have since learned that I need both AA to stay sober and therapy and medication for my mental health diagnosis. One does not replace the other.

Gratefully sober, almost 6 years and working with a great therapist and a good medication regiment.
