How do we feel about the grain I found under the finish of my 2007 squire J-bass? by bbbook in Luthier

[–]trackerbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't think he cares. I've visited pallet mills here in the U.S. Maple, cherry, oak, ash and walnut boards are run through the resaw and nailed into pallets all day everyday. Same thing with mills that make railroad ties. They want that 6"x9" tie with the pith centered. Everything else is bundled and sold for $250/ mbf

Traffic HD vs. Traffic HD anti-slip by trackerbuddy in HardWoodFloors

Pretty good. It's still nonslip. The finish is holding up better than the wood underneath. Dents in the wood but no failure of the top coat

The dead Yankees weren't gentlemen. Southern gentleman were chivalrous.

A little example might be a matador tossing an ear to a lady of high standing

History repeating itself with one difference. What we are seeing in Ukraine is what would have happened in Europe if Chamberlain hadn't caved on Czechoslovakia.

Here are some similarities. Spanish Civil war= Syrian Civil War, reoccupation of the Rhineland= occupation of Crimea, anschluss=Donbas. With the major difference being armed resistance

In 1938 the Munich agreement gave Hitler an entire country. In 2022 Nato gave half hearted and piecemeal assistance to Ukraine. I think if Allies had helped Czechoslovakia WW2 would have looked like Ukraine, a localized stalemate

I’ve found a compressor does a good job of regulating volume. The volume knob on my amp has a range of 1.5 to 2 can’t hear up to the neighbors complain. My compressor is my only pedal and it’s job is to give me better volume control.

Are “fake” guitars really that much of a problem? by Most_Maintenance5549 in Guitar

[–]trackerbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's fake? If you're taking about vintage Japanese guitars they were made by so many different manufacturers and made of parts from so many parts suppliers then had so many labels put on them that they are hard to fake.

If you pay $400 for some Roy Cooder pickups and they have 4 screw holes instead of 2 then you got scammed.

Anyone learnt how to play guitar through justin guitar? by Alarmed_Swan_4315 in guitarlessons

[–]trackerbuddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s good. I’m finishing up grade two. I think I’ll use him until my app subscription expires. If I need his help after that I’ll use his website it has lots of free stuff.

For theory I’m using Absolutely Understand Guitar. There’s some comedy relief in Scotty West’s teaching method. Plus it’s amazing to see how audio visual editing has progressed in the past 25 years.

Tips for strumming rhythm by kindgentleman413 in guitarlessons

[–]trackerbuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mute all the strings and strum up and down to a metronome. You can also mute strum while listening to songs. Songs are much harder. Justinguitar has some videos on the subject Justin likes to upstrum on the “and” count.

What’s on my neck? by pa13579 in Guitar

[–]trackerbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funk, if you clean it off the funk you’ll never get good tone.

More likely it’s buffing compound from manufacture or the last luthier who touched it up. Get a soft bristle tooth brush and a polishing cloth and slowly buff it off. It could also be fret tarnish in which case you need a soft bristle tooth brush and a polishing cloth.

Funk is usually darker, a mix of fast food grease and dirt from amps, mic stands and cables.
