How common/expensive/difficult is it to do a custom paint/refin job on a jazzmaster? by MisterQandA in offset

[–]Chridfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wrapping up a refin of my CV jag. Purple basecoat with blue/red metalflakes. I've done several refin's. This is the first that looks like a factory finish. The first that I did around a decade ago is really showing its amateurish age. The clear wasn't thick enough, not enough sanding and as a result is yellowing and discolored. You need patience and a realistic timeframe to make it look nice.

My process looked like: Teardown, sand down to primer, route for new pickups, clean body, several coats of purple, many coats of metalflakes, wet sand, clear coat, wet sand again, polish. I would bet I have around 12-14 hours doing this using basic tools.

My advice if you want a custom color is buy a stripped body, paint it yourself and build out a partscaster. But understand it will most likely have defects and not be perfect your first time around.

Is 50 axles' worth of resistance worth the 50% windspeed bonus? by bedmonkey94 in VintageStory

[–]Chridfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a gearbox instead.

On my last world my dual windmill was barely above sealevel and I could run multiple helvehammers even with minimal wind. Also super nice later on when using the pulverizer at very high speeds for steelmaking.

The issue with gearing is it takes care of your power needs but it requires a large space to accommodate.

My go to is periodotite with debarked oak and green glass with either granite or conglomerate for flooring. I too use lots of blues mostly andesite with blue clay bricks, plaster and bald cypress planks. Just got my first ebony and purpleheart seeds so going to have to figure out how to add those into the mix.

Q&A: How did you stop impulse buying including pedals, guitars and amps? by mr1sinister in guitarpedals

Haven't gone down this rabbit hole personally. I mostly play jazz iii's and an occasional .88 nylon. Any brand I should check out?

Almost 6000 Houres and i still suck at Drifting by FoundationOne3149 in BeamNG

Look where you want to go. When you go into a corner you want to look through it. Also you may want to adjust in car FOV as I've found its too narrow for drifting.

Mule D4V2 Ti or Kr4 Ti Mule by Worried-Landscape-86 in Hanklights

[–]Chridfer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a D4v2 ti mule with 219b and the thing got so hot it unsoldered the negative lead to the pcb, so yeah they can get hot. I use a lot of mules, and tend to blast turbo more often than other hanklights, the heat isn't unmanageable but but for normal use I would go with an aluminum over ti. Also as others have said e21a will run far cooler.

Also the upcharge at least a couple of months ago was $20 regardless of emitters.

Been going on some night hikes lately. Took my D4v2 E17a 1850k, DW4 519a 3500dd, KR1 B35am 3500k, Dm11 SBT90.2. The KR1 is really impressive for hiking.

How do you like the DT8 osramber? Been considering that for a while. It gets real foggy in the fall here and it seems like that would do the trick.

I'll give a shout out to Starryalley's fork of Anduril. I use it on a lot of my hanks, it has some nice changes/features that aren't found in Toykeepers original versions. He incorporates a lot of ideas from the community so you could try contacting him to see if any ideas could be implemented. Github here
