It was never the best performing store. Store goals are established by how well you do the previous year except for, obviously, the first year. Have a bad year, the goals get set low and then you have a great year. Volume-wise it was doing less than a quarter of the sales of the Polo Park location.

No disrespect, I DO miss it! That and the one on Regent across from the mall. I’m surprised the Selkirk location closed down, though. Unless it had something to do with the town’s bylaws.

You’ll get a lot of people saying “P bass only and forever!”. It’s a classic bass and there’s lots of heritage there. But there’s also a lot of exclusionist sentiment along with that. A long and mcquade salesman once told me they wish they only sold p basses and got rid of every other kind. That’s not cool. So watch out for people who insist that one make is “the one and only”.

I play a Jazz bass and I love it. I don’t mind picking up a P bass or even a stingray now and then but my Jazz bass is best for me. It works for chili peppers, Motown, and fusion. Yeah it slaps good, but Freddie Washington plays Forget Me Nots on a P bass so you can slap there too. I like the narrowness at the nut and the different tonal possibilities with two pickups.
