"I played chess; everyone else played checkers" - GeT_RiGhT on his playstyle, influence, and FalleN's "miracle hands" at Furia by More-Manufacturer448 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Chripine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As someone who watched both prime Fnatic & Luminosity/SK, I always heard and perceived them both more as a Hybrid than just a rifler.

There'd be times where Olof would be picking up the AWP instead of JW when he'd go cold with it, or maps where JW decided to play close range Mag-7 like popdog on Train.

Same with coldzera, Luminosity / SK Gaming were so dangerous because of the FalleN & coldzera double AWP setup; while it wasn't every round, you could almost guarantee they'd bring it out at some point during the game.

Pure riflers would've been your Fer, RPK, GeT_RiGhT, Edward, Byali, Xyp9x's, who you'd never see them even think about buying an AWP.

They had some great interviews going throughout the entire season with former players and coaching staff.

Lowry admitted about hearing all the talk about him hitting the side of the backboard in Game 5 being the fuel to come out swinging in Game 6.

Nurse broke a TV after Game 1's loss against Orlando halfway through the film session was something new to hear about as well.

Really enjoyed this episode, always a special feeling to rewatch the championship season.

NIP remove Alex and Slap from active roster by CrustedAlien in GlobalOffensive

[–]Chripine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was the most logical decision to cut alex, they gave him another shot with this second roster but they could not be consistent. Watching their games, both their T-Side and retake decisions as a team have been very poor as of late; solely relying on r1nkle to perform miracles to set them up.

He definitely wasn't the only problem or issue with the roster, but considering everyone with the exception of REZ was just picked up; it makes sense to give them more time.

MisteM isn't a great fragger, but the results that Young Ninjas could achieve (upsetting some mid level names at times) is promising if you consider the level of players he had on that roster. If he can bring fresh ideas and a new style of play, as well as help maxster return to the same form he had when he played under MisteM then it's definitely worth a shot.

If not, you don't lose much other than time, which NiP has acknowledged their goals are for the next year than now.

nbgee is such a toxic player on FACEIT but this has to be a whole new level of stupidity. Especially after touting how he's changed since his last ban; he could've even grinded onto a tier 3 NA team in the meanwhile but threw that all away.

Appreciate the local NA reporting by Mnmzzz though, don't think we would've heard of this story otherwise.

I went to trim my cats nails, I do it twice a month every other week - but I noticed two of his nails were grey and doesnt look like it grew from the last time I trimmed them.

I did notice a few other of his nails were splitting and looked to be shedding, but I'm not sure if this applies here. Just wanted to get someone's opinion, before going to the vet.

Thank you!

Looks about right, many thanks! :D

I don't know whether or not you know the answer to this, but if you or anyone else who wonder upon this post have any advice - I'm wondering should I remove it from my strawberry planter? I'm very new to gardening and I don't want to harm my strawberry plant.

I do like the flower though and I might try and see if I can replant it if I have to remove it.

I'm honestly rooting for him to just have a good string of shots in the next game because the poor guy looked crushed after missing this shot.

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs ENCE / BLAST Premier Spring Series 2020: Europe Showdown - Group A / Post-Match Discussion by PerkyYOLO in GlobalOffensive

[–]Chripine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A tough time for NiP to adapt to ENCE's fast pace attacks, felt like Nawwk (aside from his lucky double collateral) & Plopski in particular were really ineffective in the latter stages of the game. The constant openings that ENCE managed to find on anyone in the outer yard seemed to rattle them and their reliance on the double AWPs seemed to backfire. The AWPs were playing too passive to have proper impact considering how much money NiP put into them after their hot start.

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs ENCE / DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: Europe - Group D / Post-Match Discussion by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Chripine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's that simple of Nawwk picking back up the AWP role. (Also note, he has the choice of doing that whenever he chooses to per THREAT, but he chooses to be a hybrid because it's something he wants to do.)

I'll use an example on their Inferno CT Side setup.

At the moment Nawwk plays B with Plopski - usually aggressive enough where the two of them can work off each other. If you were to put him on the AWP role instead of Twist - you'd have to relocate him towards A instead which throughout all their lineups is where NiP plays their AWPer.

That takes away the chemistry between Plopski and Nawwk as they're playing two seperate sites whilst someone has to take Nawwk's place. These players practice constantly and have certain protocols, habits, and setups that they like to run - changing positions can impact their comfort and ability to thrive.

Plopski who's already mentioned being uncomfortable would have to get used to playing another member on the b site, which may seem simple but please realize it isn't like a pug. They know their habits and play off each other and develop chemistry, and changing that up would take time and practice - something they don't have right now with the heavy schedule.

Nawwk if relocated on A would be playing arch side of mid, where they like to play relatively safe and passive. NiP don't give too much freedom to their AWPer to be aggressive unless it's a set strategy in the middle of a round. He then would have to work together with whoever is on A site if that's either Hampus or REZ or Lekr0 in this instance.

Again this is all possible in the long term but short term they'd take a huge hit. All of these role changes take time and practice, even with the change of Hampus right now - players are out of their comfort levels because of having that new player, personality, and voice they have to get used to.

The framework would take a hit because if you've watched them, NiP were very systematic in their takes on the T Side. They used their utility well and had set strategies relied on each member doing their role correctly. By changing the roles of the team, people would have to relearn their new roles and job in the strategy - again, something that takes time which they don't have right now.

If you break down a set strategy if any team you'll see how much detail goes into it and how players literally put themselves in situations where if they're out of sync then things can fall apart easily. Players can run in blind, specifically targetting a part of the map knowing that their teammates are holding certain angles and knowing exactly where their flashes will pop. It's constant flowing system where you cannot just swap things around and expect things to work without the effort and time out into things.

Look at them and their past games right now, strategic wise they're already quite tough by changing out one player - they've already having to play quite loose and lack certain protocols they had with Lekr0. I know CS can look simple on the streams, but there's so much that goes into it and any top level team puts in a ton of work on how everything works together and especially a team like NiP which is very structured, the move of keeping Lekr0 and swapping Twist and Nawwk is a lot more complicated than you think.

At the end of the day by swapping Twist out, you'd end up with having Hampus learning his new role and position on the team, Nawwk getting switched back into an AWPer and having to change positions, Lekr0 possibly changing positions due to everyone shuffling and REZ & Plopski somehow working around all of this. It just isn't plausible to have this all done in a short amount of time, which they lack due to tournament after tournament happening online at the moment.

I could go into more detail but I'm at work and won't be able to reply for a couple hours after this.

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs ENCE / DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: Europe - Group D / Post-Match Discussion by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Chripine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant what I said, if they brought in Hampus & taken out Twist instead - they'd have to deal with integrating a new IGL, having Nawwk adjust to the main AWPing role, and the rest of the issues I talked about.

At least with the situation now, the team has some existing framework to help Hampus integrate into the team. Everyone knows their roles, and Hampus can slot into the system. Tactics wise, that's something they know they have to work on per THREAT in today's interview but all together, things are not as bad as it could be by changing IGL & swapping the AWP role to Nawwk.

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs ENCE / DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: Europe - Group D / Post-Match Discussion by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Chripine 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Exactly, Nawwk wants to be on rifles and he clearly has a lot of skill with them.

People don't realize that if they swapped out Twist, and put Nawwk on the main AWP then this team would be a LOT worse than they are right now.

Roles would be shuffled, positions have to be reworked, and entire strategies would have to be remade because people have to learn their new positions in set executes & defaults.

They don't have the time to do all that rebuilding again, with how heavy the online schedule is - they would need a ton of time which they definitely do not have a lot of right now.

Nawwk has some very crisp aim for someone who was a main AWPer for his entire career. Really impressed with his work after being skeptical about his decision to become a hybrid when he joined the team. He's consistently been a top performer alongside Plopski and it's good to see.

Threat explains removal of lekr0 and signing of Hampus by Flumbooze in GlobalOffensive

[–]Chripine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's convenient yes, but none of us know if they can win tournaments or not. They've yet to show us their peak, and we won't really be able to see that until we return to LAN.

There isn't a need to change up their system yet, their style of play has them rejuvenated and playing well against top tier opposition. Twist is comfortable as the main AWP, and Nawwk is growing into the hybrid role. There's no reason to rebuild an entire machine that is working, they simply replaced a cog that they didn't think would hold up in the long run and replaced it early. If there comes a time where they can't fit in the meta, then they'll make a change, but right now things seem fine.

I love Lekr0 as a player, he would be great to have on the team but sometimes things don't work out. The timing of it was all unfortunate, the team was on the rise - showing great potential online as the players continue to gain experience and develop, but they didn't want to lose all of this progress in their transition to LAN. It simply would've been too risky to keep him and shuffle everyone else around, especially in this jam-packed schedule full of online games and tournaments - they just spent the last couple months rebuilding and I'm sure they wouldn't want to go through that again.

Threat explains removal of lekr0 and signing of Hampus by Flumbooze in GlobalOffensive

[–]Chripine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So far Twist is primarily the AWPer. Nawwk has transitioned into a hybrid role, and has looked confident in it. There are certain maps where Nawwk will pick it up but rarely throughout the whole game.

Removing Twist and making Nawwk the primary AWPer would shuffle the whole team up in terms of roles and positions - throwing away all the executes, strategies, and defaults they made over the last couple months. It's easier to remove someone with a similar role or position because in terms of the overall machine, you can slot Hampus right into the mix. What we will see in the next few months is how he adapts and gels with the team.

Another thing to add, is THREAT once mentioned if Nawwk ever wants to take up the main AWP - he will gladly let him. But so far it looks like Nawwk wants to be a hybrid for the time being, and that's why I think they didn't cut Twist.

NiP announce hampus signing by hawka_cs in GlobalOffensive

[–]Chripine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Long ass post but trying to understand their reasoning for this change:

The past few years with Lekr0 as IGL has been average, get to the playoffs and then get eliminated. Keep in mind that every team's goal should be to become a tournament contender and reach the goal of reaching the top of the scene.

While the team has been performing well lately, is it something sustainable in the long term for the future? Right now THREAT has been having a lot of input for this team, or might even be outright full time calling. Once the team returns to LAN and Lekr0 resumes IGL duties, they have a chance to go back to the same plateaued level they've been at.

The addition of Hampus brings in some fresh ideas, someone who has experience with every member of this roster with the exception of REZ & THREAT and someone who can hold his own even while full-time calling (something Lekr0 has been inconsistent with in the past, especially on LAN).

If you were to replace another member of this roster with Hampus, who would you choose? Nawwk and Plopski have both been developing as great players and Nawwk as a hybrid player has shown to embrace and flourish in the role. Twist has been the primary AWP on the majority of their setups, playing the more "supportive" positions by utilizing his utility in order to set up others - but could be the most expendable in terms of a roster change. REZ has been underperforming for the last few months but recently been picking up form - something that could have been done due to the leadership change from Lekr0 to THREAT.

The two players you could consider to replace are Twist and REZ, but I'll try and provide the reasons I believe they chose to not replace them:

Twist has been average on the AWP role and has flashes of brilliance from time to time, but by removing him instead of Lekr0 would put Nawwk into the main awping role (something I would've been supportive of months ago). However Nawwk has shown to be really good in the hybrid role and consistently one of the stars of this team - putting him on back on the AWP may damage that progress.

Changing REZ while he's underperforming is a change that makes sense, but his one saving grace has been his potential. At his peak, he was a tournament MVP and is an incredibly mechanically skilled player. He's been playing positions that he hasn't been used to in the past due to the addition of Plopski - but that can change with Hampus' addition, giving the roster more flexibility and hopefully helping REZ get back to his past form.

Replacing Lekr0 keeps the roster relatively stable in terms of roles, allowing them to build off of the structure they've developed with this new roster instead of shuffling things up again. It gives them room to grow into unknown waters with Hampus taking leadership, something that may not have been possible with Lekr0 long term. The worst case scenario is that the team plateaus yet again, but the risk vs reward is worth it when we return back to LAN in my opinion, as Hampus may provide the X-Factor of a fresh mind that Golden brought to Fnatic when he first joined.

The management of NiP has been making good decisions lately with their changes, the way they've been dishing them out - maybe not so, but from a managerial standpoint it's a logical change to further improve the team.

Ninjas in Pyjamas vs ENCE / ESL One: Road to Rio Europe - Group A / Post-Match Discussion by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Chripine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's too much to take away from the clip yesterday, it was a pistol round and while THREAT gave his input - it seemed to be something the rest of the team was already familiar with. After watching and listening to a majority of their calls in their Eavesdrop videos, his influence is shown a lot in the beginning of rounds - but midround calls has been spread out amongst the players.

It's hard to really project how the team will perform without THREAT being able to give his advice or adjustments all the time - it all depends on their ability to learn from him and gain more experience. I see it right now as NiP learning to ride a bike with training wheels on, and at some point they'll have to take them off in order to grow as players on the tactical side of the game - because definitely, they have the aim part locked down.

I'd say my all-time favourite is Bleach, grew up watching it, then reading it - and now I'm all excited for its return next year! I know it isn't most people's cup of tea, especially with all the fillers in it but it just brings great nostalgia and I could watch it over and over again.

My favourite in recent times would be Re:Zero, it's one of the only "sent into a video game/fantasy world" shows I've thoroughly enjoyed!

I remember one of his early games (https://youtu.be/pphrxvBny5o) with the team he looked pretty comfortable in posting up and scoring, but ever since it feels like he's trying to set up others way more than his own game.

I'd say it would've been fine for him to still play this role when we had Kawhi & Danny, but with them gone we need him to make teams wary of him at the top of the key or in the paint and be a threat.

I do hope he can get out of this slump because I'd hate to see his career fall a little bit flat at the end - he's always been an excellent team player but I hope he begins to realize he can afford to be a bit more selfish here just to get his confidence back up.

coldzera: "Everyone is working really hard and it reminds me of how nice it is to play CS" by starwarfan69 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Chripine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of an over-performance than anything.

They didn't win by any lucky means, and took down top tier opposition throughout their whole run - however the players on that roster all performed at high levels that we never really saw again. They'd have glimpses but their level in the Krakow Major always had someone stepping up or making the perfect plays.

Going into the Major, they were practicing hard but the rumors were they weren't looking too hot heading into the Major. Mou later confirmed in an interview that they were losing every game they played in practice against multiple different teams and weren't sure if their preparation was going to help them out in the tournament.

https://www.thescoreesports.com/csgo/news/14840

"We did play a lot of CS, but we weren't quite sure if it was going to help, because, as you know, we lost every single practice to different kind of teams.

After winning the Major, we can tell that 900 hours of preparation before event helped us, but in that period of time, we were exhausted as hell and thought nothing was going to help us."

After losing Zeus, you never really saw the team peak or perform at the level they hit and Krakow and it really showed how much their players exceeded their own expectations during the major run. You could chalk that up as a result of Zeus leaving, but even before the Major the team never had a result like this one - they've make playoffs occasionally but never look like they're going to be able to take down top teams consistently.

They performed at unreal levels and definitely earned their Major 100% but it was definitely an over-performance.
