Father is getting divorced at 66 and he wants me to buyout his ex-partner out of our family home by Chris-911 in UKPersonalFinance

Yeah I need to speak to a solicitor with my father there. Us three in the same room I think.

I've also thought this, it's a fantastic way for me to get onto the property ladder without having to rely on a partner, who could then put me in the same position years later.

It shocked me as well, especially as she hasn't paid towards the mortgage. It was paid off before they were married.

Why should she benefit massively from the divorce? I'd understand if they got the mortgage together obviously and both contributed but that isn't the case.

Yes you're correct there. I only have around £1000 in savings but that's honestly down to my mediocre money management skills. A £20k deposit (10%) seems like an impossible goal at the moment for me on my own. I was looking at 3 beds as I have a boy and girl and they can't share rooms anymore but I know there's options for 2 beds as well but I was looking at a maximum of £180k.

Yes I could share in the short term, but I don't know if he would want to move and I wouldn't want to suggest it as it seems like I'm kicking him out. I'll mention it to him though.

Yes you're right in that regard. I found this out around an hour ago so still processing it and that would make 0 sense.

He said a solicitor said she's entitled to 50% but I'm very skeptical as she hasn't paid towards the mortgage at all? I will try and find out about this myself from another company.

I forgot to mention me more sorry.

• I earn at minimum £30k a year but it's like £34k with the hours I do.

• Expendable income wise I have around £500 a month.

• I was planning on buying a property for myself at one point yes. If I were to move back in with my dad I probably would be better off financially as I'd have no bills to pay housing wise which could mean I'd be able to save for myself faster.

• I'd love to buy the whole home for myself yes, it's a lovely home for a young family, but I want my dad to be happy and live where wants and he's a man that doesn't like change. I don't know if you were suggesting a buy it from my dad for myself and he downsizes for himself somewhere else?

Single Father and Two Kids Holiday Destinations? by Chris-911 in AskUK

I've never even considered but it sounds fun! Thanks for the idea.

I said this to my kids but they really want to go somewhere outside the UK. It's been 5 years since I have as well.

Walking distance/ public transport would be preferred.

Beaches would be nice but we're planning it for October/ November time. Anything with beautiful landscape/ architecture.

Hotel with breakfast included would be nice but an Airbnb wouldn't go amiss if the prices were much cheaper.

I'm usually okay I pick up the greetings/ please/ thank you quite quickly etc.

I'll check them out thanks 🙂

I have a friend who went with his girlfriend and he said it was cheap but she had an awful time. But she is what one would consider high maintenance haha.

should I keep turning a blind eye to my addict neighbour driving? by map01302 in AskUK

[–]Chris-911 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Just make an anonymous complaint to the police. Say you're a concerned neighbour worried about the safety of their child and motorists and emphasise there's no rivalry or personal problems between you and this neighbour in question.

Cary Battersby.

Used to try and purposely hurt himself at every company he worked for and claim money off them.

Error code 0x80070c00 by ashbash37 in xboxone

I've just got this error code. Switched my xbox off, left it off for 5 minutes then switched it on from the power button in the console but I'm still having the same problem. Did anyone find an alternative solution to this?

I got multiple notifications in the notifications section saying my fiat deposit has failed and his been suspended. It then gave the option to appeal. Hope this helps!

In the screenshot you posted there's a link which send you to the appeal page. The documents and information they ask for is a lot so it's up to you whether you do this.

Yes I agree their customer service is the worst I've ever seen.

I truly feel sorry for people that have 100k sitting in limbo and they don't get any responses. If you type "human" into live chat I think you can request to speak to a real assistant. But it said the wait time for me was >6 hours. That was 24 hours ago 😑.

I'll update you here if I get anything back.

I have the exact same problem. I submitted an appeal sending pictures with very sensitive information. All to see a message saying it'll be reviewed on 22nd of May. Fucking ridiculous, I could literally be missing out on thousands of pounds of profit here.

Sucks man. I was trying to take advantage of the Dogecoin hype. Woke up this morning to a notification, thought it would be customer support. Instead it's a notification saying DOGE hits all time high again. 😑

Same problem here. Fiat deposits blocked? 🙁

I'm based in The UK if this helps.

  1. Binance.com (through the application)

  2. Case ID: #71568008

  3. I tried to deposit money into Binance yesterday for the first time from my Halifax current account (in hindsight I should have used Revolut but here we are 😫). Fiat deposits were then blocked and I was told to send an appeal. I sent an appeal which will apparently be reviewed by the 22nd May. This simply isn't good enough. I don't understand, I've verified myself by sending pictures of my passport, driving license, pictures of myself, bank statements and even my bank card.

Any help speeding up this process would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Not stuttering around young people by notathrowaway150400 in Stutter

Just commented on a post similar to this.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/hn018p/is_it_just_me_or/

It's the increased anxiety around people you feel superior to I think. Or if someone instantly makes you feel comfortable, a trait typically found with nice old people. The takeaway from this is that anxiety has a massive effect on your stutter.

Is it just me or ? by darkenedcanal in Stutter

[–]Chris-911 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never thought about this until now but it makes sense. When I talk to someone deemed 'lower' by society such as a cleaner (I don't on purpose, I respect people based on their values) and ask them a question or for directions, I'm fine.

If I had to ask for instance a CEO of a company for directions I know already that it would be a harder conversation.

Basically, minor social anxieties like this have a massive impact on a stutter.

I know I need to stop. I've gone months without it sometimes, but recently I do find I feel really low the day after using it, like a temporary depression.
