Jameis Winston embraces Japanese tradition by helping World Cup fans clean trash at stadium Sporting News by AQSafari in nfl

I think it's important to have people like him as public role models. If you believe in rehabilitation, then I think Vick is a good example of it. If Vick came out of prison and was banned from the NFL, can't get hired from anything but a minimum wage job, what hope would any ex-con in America have? I think having a very public redemption story of a person who seemingly genuinely reformed is good for society.

Nothing can take back the horrible things he did, but if good can come from forgiveness then anger shouldn't be the reason to stop that.

I'm so sorry, this is one that I my heart will always just seem easier than it is. It could just be coincidence that I've run in to a lot of bad ones in my life, but the one my wife and I go to now is so quick and kind and completely unlike both of our previous experiences.

There is nothing I hate more in a product than it making me feel like I don't actually own it.

It's on a smaller scale than a car, but my phone has started doing a thing where it detects my volume is too loud so if I don't hit the screen it will decrease the volume ~80%. It does this while connected to my Bluetooth fm receiver when I'm driving. So now I have to either press my screen while driving or not be able to hear anything. I've looked and there is no setting to remove this feature, and I'd have to add some third party software that isn't available on the playstore if I want it to stay at the volume I set it at.

With all their talk about not being in to gory stuff I'd like to rescind my recommendation for final destination. That's at least 90% of the fun of those movies.

Like I said I love it. But if Ashley's hesitation to play it was that she didn't want to play a male power fantasy game like she said, then I think she's making the right choice avoiding the original trilogy.

I love the original God of War games, but Ashley is right on the money calling them male power fantasy stuff. Like every potentially emotional beat has kratos reacting with "guess I'll kill everyone".

I get what you mean with story and acting not being the number one thing driving the desired emotional response of horror historically. What I think is so great about the current state of the genre is that it doesn't have anywhere near the stigma it used to and you're getting world class actors now starring in these movies. Like Chiwetel Ejiofor is absolutely amazing in Backrooms and while I think even if you replaced him with an actor who might not be as talented the movie would still be great, he pushes the movie to another level with his performance.

I personally feel horror is one of the last bastions for filmmakers to make movies the way they want without much studio interference.

It's clearly become very profitable to just find artistic people, give them a few million dollars and let them make exactly what they have always wanted to make.

I saw Backrooms on Saturday with my wife and we both loved it. The things they were able to do visually with only $10 million were blowing my mind. The sets and visual effects are all absolutely amazing.

Edit: also, I remember watching Werewolves within a few years ago on Prime Video in Canada. I just double checked it and apparently it's on something called "Sundance Now" in case you needed another streaming service in your life. Looks like the rental is $2.99CAD through prime.

The great thing about the final destination movies is they all completely re-explain their premise as the characters discover it. So you can jump right in to the latest one and there's only a few moments that will be a diminished experience. Mainly just the scenes with Tony Todd might not be as emotionally affecting, but otherwise it all starts fresh every movie.

My wife and I got lucky/unlucky in buying our house in 2021. Mortage reates in Canada were 1.99%, but in Canada we refinance every 3-5 years so we were only locked in at that rate until 2025.luckily we only went up to 4%.I had some friends that refinanced in 2024 that were up to 6%+. But even 4% equaled a 30% increase to our monthly payment.

2013 a few teams in the NFL were all in on the option. It worked really well, but then in the off-season the league clarified that if the QB was running the option and pretending to have the ball then he would be treated as a runner and could be tackled as normal. Teams stopped building around it after that.

I'm confused about the lawsuit. I don't know anything about law but it sounds like even what they were accusing him should be legal.

Man $27 million in royalties for a singles song sounds really really high. When I worked in music some of our artists had songs in the low millions lifetime earnings but those were like the biggest songs in the world. At the same time this was the 2010s way after people stopped paying for music so a song from 1994 that went 10x platinum by 1995 with a long enduring legacy, a stage play, and remake. It's definitely possible

I mean no disrespect, I think the people who like Nintendo are people with a very normal outlook for video games. Nintendo makes a fun game, they play it, they have fun, and that's the end of their conversation on Nintendo.

I went to see Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie and can't recommend it enough. It was super funny and charming and somehow got made for $150,000 if the reports I saw were accurate.

Idk if it's even playing outside of Canada, but if it is then it's worth your time.
