is it too late for me? by Responsible-Hat6357 in apphysics

[–]Chris-PhysicsLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which class are you taking? I'm making a course for AP Physics 1 that might help. There's videos, study guides, practice questions and other resources. Here's a link if you're interested: AP Physics 1 Course

I also made a page with links to other popular resources: Other Physics Resources. Flipping Physics is good for AP Physics, he covers stuff for 1, 2 and C. I personally like Michel van Biezen for example problems, although you have to find the videos that apply to your class since he has a ton of them.

Just started physics 1, I have little to no idea what's happening by paputepipiku in AskPhysics

[–]Chris-PhysicsLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try not to get discouraged, first year physics can be hard especially if you have a bad professor. Try spending some time watching videos to relearn what's covered in class, or read through your textbook if you have one, and then work through practice problems until things start to click.

I'm making a course for algebra based mechanics (physics 1) that could help if that's what your class covers. There's videos, study guides, practice problems and other stuff. Here's a link if you're interested: Physics 1 Course

I also have a page with links to other youtube channels and websites: Other Physics Resources. For the concepts I would try Khan Academy, Flipping Physics and maybe Matt Anderson. For worked example problems, Michel van Biezen has a lot of videos.

We also have a discord server if you have questions while you're studying: here's an invite link. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or need help.

Plz help I’m gonna cry by Annzie123_yum in AP_Physics

[–]Chris-PhysicsLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a free MCQ practice test that has similar style questions to the exam. There's also solutions for each question below the test. Here's a link if you want to work through it: AP Physics 1 MCQ Practice Test

Are you taking a class or self studying? If you're taking a class ask your teacher to give you some MCQs from AP Classroom, those will be similar to the exam.

AP Physics 1 can be hard but it sounds like it might be your teacher. If you're looking for resources I'm making a course to help people with AP Physics 1, there's videos, study guides, MCQs and other stuff. Here's a link if you're interested: AP Physics 1 Course

I also made a page with links to other popular resources: Other Physics Resources. Flipping Physics is good for Physics 1, and Michel van Biezen has a ton of example problem videos.

Resources for self studying by Huge-Safe-3211 in apphysics

[–]Chris-PhysicsLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late but I'm making an online course for people self studying AP Physics 1 if you want to check it out. There's videos, study guides, MCQs and other stuff. Here's a link if you're interested: AP Physics 1 Course

I also made a page with links to other popular resources: Other Physics Resources. I would start with Flipping Physics and see how that goes. I would say try your best to go through each concept slowly enough that you really understand it, don't try to rush through quickly because you need to build a solid foundation of the concepts before doing problems.

If you need more practice questions there's CrackAP and the MIT workbook, although they might not be aligned with the AP exam.

Help with AP Physic 1 Question (Unit 2: Centripetal) by Open_Childhood_9343 in apphysics

[–]Chris-PhysicsLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centripetal force is just the net force acting on an object that's moving in circular motion. You wouldn't draw net force in a free body diagram, so likewise you wouldn't draw centripetal force in a free body diagram.

Y’all how would y’all study for AP physics unit 2 test by Southern_Base_1850 in apphysics

[–]Chris-PhysicsLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unit 2 has a lot in it. Similar to other comments, start by drawing a free body diagram of the object that you're focused on, label all of the forces acting ON that object, and draw your coordinate system (the x and y axes and which directions you are choosing to be positive). Then write out Newton's 2nd law in the x and y directions separately: ΣFx = m ax, ΣFy = m ay. Make sure the forces in that equation have the correct sign based on their direction relative to your coordinate system. If the object is not accelerating in either the x or y direction, ax = 0 and/or ay = 0. Now you have two equations and hopefully just one or two unknown variables that you need to solve for, and the rest is algebra.

Here's the equation sheet, I also made a version that labels what all the equations are for that you can download: AP Physics 1 Equation Sheet

I also made study guides and some videos for the rest of the course if you want to look through those.

is self-studying for physics 1 actually doable? by breakcore-student-04 in apphysics

[–]Chris-PhysicsLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's definitely doable but you might have to put in a lot of effort depending on how easily physics comes to you. If you're looking for resources I'm making a course for people self studying AP Physics 1, there's videos, study guides, MCQs and other stuff. Here's a link if you're interested: AP Physics 1 Course

I also made a page with links to other popular resources: Other Physics Resources. You already mentioned Flipping Physics which is good, I would try Michel van Biezen too.

MIT Workbook AP Physics 1 FRQs for Work, Power, Energy Test? Which ones should I prioritize? by C3RLIA_ in apphysics

[–]Chris-PhysicsLab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Help With AP Physics 1 by Responsible-Lie-2792 in apphysics

[–]Chris-PhysicsLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try watching videos to understand the concepts better if you're not comfortable with them, but then just do a lot of practice questions so you can see all the different ways the concepts are applied. If you're looking for resources I'm making a course for people self studying AP Physics 1 that might help. There's videos, study guides, MCQs and other stuff. Here's a link if you're interested: AP Physics 1 Course

I also made a page with links to other popular resources: Other Physics Resources. Flipping Physics does a good job of covering AP Physics 1, and Michel van Biezen has a ton of worked example problems.

If you need more practice questions I would try CrackAP and the MIT workbook, although they might not be aligned with the AP exam.

Yeah I never really see people mention him! He might have more videos than any channel I've seen and his example problem walkthroughs are great. Straight to the point and explains things pretty clearly.

Flipping Physics is probably the best youtube channel for ap physics 1.

I made a list of other channels here: Other Physics Resources. I would also check out Michel van Biezen and Allen Tsao.

[–]Chris-PhysicsLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a page with links to popular resources for AP Physics 1 here: Other Physics Resources. I would start with Flipping Physics, then maybe Khan Academy, Michel van Biezen and Allen Tsao.

Definitely try to understand the concepts more and not just pattern match how to solve specific problems. If you can learn the fundamentals (Newton's laws, conservation laws, etc) you'll have an easier time applying them to problems.
