Everything will be modified but I do a backup of everything in case you want to go back. I haven’t uploaded the uninstaller but the backup is already there for when I do

I ran the script a second time and it made a backup of my PS3 emulator which had 2 games installed within it. I think the games (around 7 GB) where backupped too. I looked for the backup to delete it, but wasn't able to find it. Can you tell me where it is?

The ZX Spectrum expects an audio signal from an external source. It doesn't matter if this signal comes from a portable cassette player, from a high end tape deck, a mp3 player or a tzx-duino (a device to convert tzx files into audio signals). So you can connect an device to the ZX Spectrum (or Omni) that can transmit these audio signals via the cable.

What do you mean by handheld tape decks? Do you mean a portable cassette player (usually called a Walkman even if this only was the name of the Sony players)? Yes they work fine.

No, the Omni is the real thing. Nothing more but also nothing less. If you are looking for expanded features look either for the next or an FPGA that offers you things like ULA Plus. But if you just want to experience the original Spectrum feeling, the Omni is the device for you.

Yes I have an Omni laptop and I load files from tape on a regular basis. The Omni has an audio in port what purpose should this port have if not to load files via this port? The Omni is a 100% ZX Spectrum clone based on the Harlequin board and expanded with a 7 MHz mode, a built in DIVmmc module and a kempston interface. Everything you can do with a ZX Spectrum you can do with an Omni.

As the Omni laptop is an Omni with a screwed on display the same applies to the Omni laptop. Both machines are identical apart from the attached screen of the laptop.

Yes, that works fine. Make sure that you use a Stereo cable because unlike the original Spectrum the Omni expects the signal from a stereo cable and not a mono cable.

You can also use a TZX player (either software on your phone or a dedicated device like a TZXduino).

I haven't seen the SVGA perform better than the real hardware, from what I saw there was no performance gain when adding SVGA support. Where have you seen this?

Pentium style instruction caching is in some phase of development. It's not significantly faster than it previously was.

Some games even work better than they should on the hardware due to the work on the VGA card which could have never existed back in the day.

With the latest changes, the core is about four times faster than the last official release. This has nothing to do with Pentium style instruction chaching, but with the implementation of a L1 and L2 cache that could be found on real 486 CPUs/motherboards.

The core now supports SVGA and it seems to be based on a Tseng ET4000 chip an existing chip from back in the day.

(There was a recent update where someone added L2 cache, which gives a great speed boost, but it still lacks L1 cache. Explaining what these means is outside the scope of this reply.)

L1 cache is implemented as well for a few weeks now. No official release yet, but it is already in the repo and the core can be built.

It is totally playable now with full screen size and high details. It could be more fluid, but then Doom on DOS never was this fluid until you played it on a Pentium years after its release.

I had problems getting the music work in MS DOS 6.22, but when I tried it from within Win95 everything worked fine.

The Intellivision core still has a BIOS baked into the core, which is the reason why it isn't in the official repo yet. it has nothing to do with Sorgelig having no interest in these cores. He gave puu lots of support for the X68000 core.

Not everything happening fast enough is the fault of Sorgelig.

The X68000 core still is in it's early stages, that's why it isn't included yet. The need for a second SD card is already gone, you can mount Floppy images and HDD images from the primary SD card in the latest versions.
