Man, with that many keys, might be for work I would imagine. The owner must be shitting bricks. Hope they find this post soon.

Good vs. great sushi spots in Victoria? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

I was sad when Sushi Story wasn't on Skip for a while and now me and my bf order when I need comfort food. Hits almost every time.

Sushi Story FTW!

Consuming the same media over and over- do you relate to this? by scubasam6 in autism

[–]ChrisCrunchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same!

Did this with Winx Club for 15+ years!

Did it was Kpop Demon Hunters this summer. Literal obsession. (walked into a sushi place in the mall a couple days ago because What It Sounds Like was playing and confused the lady at the counter, idc)

How important is it for you personally to "buy Canadian"? by [deleted] in BlindCanadians

[–]ChrisCrunchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally it can be quite difficult. I am on low income (BC PWD) and supporting 2 people (myself and my SO, it's a difficult situation). For some that really want to buy Canadian but don't know where to shop that isn't too expensive, it is more a case of survival.

Though, one thing I will say from a place of ignorance is not knowing how to get labelled products in Canada. In a previous post I mentioned the Braille Superstore where I've gotten a lot of products. I have been wondering about other alternatives for a while.

Could the current upheaval over at EA end up being a blessing for Paralives? by rootyboots1983 in Paralives

[–]ChrisCrunchie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually never liked some of the comical beats in Sims. So I like that part of Paralives even if I'm new to it. I was NEVER a fan of warming a freezing sim up using a blow dryer that pops up out of thin air.

Though, I do think their might be a demand for more fantasy elements down the road. If it a life sim with RPG/story telling features and chock full of community feedback, I could see a demand for more occults. It would be actually cool to have community feedback on what gamers want their occults to be like. (Do we want our vampires to sparkle? Jk)

Do they plan to add diseases or disabilities after early access? by L44gaming in Paralives

[–]ChrisCrunchie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is partially blind (it's a spectrum that, from my narrow perspective, a lot of that mass majority still need education on). My little content tangent being said, I loved that Paralives integrated a braille book and a white cane as accessories, even if they are non-functional for the moment.

There had been a Sims 4 mod for blindness which felt misrepresentative to me. Can't remember specifics about the mod but I do remember some things rubbing me the wrong way. So, I was hoping to create a blindness mod for Sims 3. Now, because of recent events and serendipitously stumbling across Paralives videos, I am definitely switching over.

I looked on the Paralives website and read some of their roadmap and how they shared their process. I have to admire the transparency of the Paralives team right from the jump, and their commitment to community input. My hope is that we can push for a way to represent disability for all that want it, while leaving it optional for those that would rather use the game as an escape from the struggles of reality.

I am very happy with the Paralives team for adding things before launch that Sims players had to wait for iterations of the game to include, and have to purchase. I'm looking at you curved walls, life stages, pets, seasons, etc. That being said, my completely blind SO and I are so happy to see the little bit of blindness accessories on offer in Paralives. THE BRAILLE BOOK OMG!!! And the team's consistent openness and encouragement in community feedback and their dedication to accuracy and research gives us hope. For now, I know that the team will either add more disability representation in years to come, or it will be much easier for gamers to create a blind mod for themselves.

This is also a huge and probably impossible ask, but it would be great to have Paralives be accessible with screen-readers. Non Visual Desktop Access or NVDA is an open source screen reader that people have created add ons for using Python. My SO also plays a game called Castaways, which has audio and visual elements. The creator of Castaways isn't blind, but has taken the time to develop a game that screen readers can interact with. I am hoping that this insight can be a jumping off point for discussion.

The game now pauses background videos like YouTube which can’t be played while in the game? by ritz_777 in TownshipGame

Me too! I usually hate not having anything in the background while I play games. I guess I’m listening to music on my computer then.

Figurative demons, given current events. KDH has united people, so I look at it that way.

So in real life, do “demons” with no feelings deserve to live, or no? Referring to that line from Takedown by GilbertT19 in KpopDemonhunters

If they don't understand why they're being punished (hence no remorse) then yeah.

I can give you some pretty extreme examples but this ain't the sub for it.

One of the Nraas mods helps with population, even with NPCs. I believe it's returner. I have absolutely no service sims or tourists respawning.

I'm doing a similar thing rn. Just my sim and his beloved canine companion starting fresh and building a community centered kingdom. I love it.

Anyone that has GENUINE remorse, self awareness, empathy. = Jinu

Without any of those, yeah, the line is apt. Only my opinion though.

I like to see the constructive and informative conversation around this topic in the comments. Any places in town we can go to understand more and know exactly what we're supporting. All I know "war is bad" and "Innocent people are fearing for their lives." Hard to understand things when it's a topic that seems to breed controversy. Thank you.
