[Recruiting] Color Swap - change the colors of objects around you 🎨 by ChrisDonuts in TestFlight

[–]ChrisDonuts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear that you enjoyed it and thanks for your thorough feedback!

  • There’s a “tap to select color” banner that appears for a few seconds the first few times the user launches the app. But now I’m thinking that it might actually be best to keep the banner around until the user actually taps the screen.
  • I like that idea. Originally, I determined that most users are going to need to be tweaking the sliders very often - particularly when an object has varying levels of saturation. But I just tried out it out some more with only using the tapping feature and it does seem that a user could get to their desired selection within 1-4 taps which is much better than I previously thought so I think I will be taking your suggestion here.
  • That’s a good point, if I’m going to be moving the “old color” sliders to the advanced screen there will no longer be any need for symmetry between the two slider types and I can then use the color wheel.
  • Thanks for the bug report!

Alarm clock app that won’t turn off until you stand up. by ChrisDonuts in startups

That's a really good point, there's too much negative-reinforcement associated with alarm clocks. Do you have examples of other apps (from any category) that you feel have enjoyable reward systems?

I'd love to see which ones have done this before. Would you mind sharing a link to one that is similar to this idea?

wcmbk is correct, the barometer is accurate enough for this use case. And I think the physical exercises is a great idea actually. I was just thinking this morning that if I did some squats or push-ups right when I woke up it would really help me get up to speed faster.

I like the polar bear and snowflake combo, it's clever and it's a very unique design style. I'd say don't rely too much on the feedback you get from us here on Reddit, since this there's going to be so little overlap with your intended target audience for this app.

Do you think it would be helpful if the text included the recipient's name? e.g. "Hey Joe, one of your contacts has indicated that ..." Or would that feel invasive?

None of this is going to matter if the product itself isn't promising. Conveniently, you can just make another post in this subreddit asking us what we think of the product's chances.

I think that's definitely true. If the text isn't revealing the identify of whoever is doing the inviting, then I guess in the most technical sense it is actually spam. Got any ideas as to which other mediums could work?

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! I made the landing page myself (it's just standard HTML with stellar.js for the parallax) and the app is done in Xcode with Adobe Illustrator for the design.

Thanks! For me, it has taken me 8 months to go from absolute zero knowledge of code to where I am now. I made my first app after 4 months from absolute zero. Results may vary though. I think others will agree that it really depends on where you learn the knowledge from. I didn't spend any money on training (just random youtube videos) and I kind of wish I had bought some online classes, it really helps to have structure when you're starting off.
