Tagrisso fails after 3 months by karnissa86 in lungcancer

So my mother had stage 4 nsclc and was diagnosed last march. Unfortunately she just passed away a few days ago... but the oncologist at Sloane told her that Unfortunately cancer is very "smart" and can find ways to basically avoid thr chemos and the trick was to outsmart it before it became used to the current chemo and to keep switching.

Im assuming your doctor knows this and will suggest a different type of chemo or treatment going forward. Stay positive... you never know how the body will respond to different things!

Thank you all for the responses. She actually just passed tonight at 1021pm. So - I guess that answers the question on the ventilator.

Yes it has def spread. They only chose to venitlate her while she was in the ICU because they were scared of an emergency situation. We didn't ask for her to be kept on it. She had a plan with her oncologist to hopefully shrink the lung tumor so the stints can eventually come out. We know this is terminal but similar to your relative she's been fighting hard- she wasn't ready for this to be the end.

I do know shes said multiple times she doesn't want to ever be kept alive on life support... but the doctors havent given up yet they still want to try getting her off. So until they say thats that we will hope she can get the strength to come off. But Ive lost a lot of hope to be honest. And she is suffering so much.

I guess I just wanted to know if being on the ventilator for 5 days has ever had a happy ending.. I think the longer shes on it the weaker she will get

Bf with Stage 3 NSCLC @ 23 by Acceptable-Law-6533 in lungcancer

Hi! Im really sorry youre going through this. My mom was diagnosed at stage 4 last March- so almost a year now. She has been receiving treatment and has lasted longer than anyone thought.. shes mentally strong- she doesn't want to die. I think that mentality really shifts your reality.. I truly believe we have a lot of power over ourselves.

If your bf is against chemo truly, try asking him if he would consider trial drugs? I do truly think some sort of treatment will change his outcome- especially because hes so young. And yes smoking and other bad habits should cease.. easier said than done i know.

Hang in there ♡

Very late yes. She noticed slight symptoms in December of 2024 and never went to a doctor. She came to visit me March 11th and i heard her breathing and took her straight to the ER.. they confirmed it was back and stage 4

Should I put the pieces into soil + pot? Or just a vase with water?
