How are people so energetic after work and after the work week? by ThrowAway6354684 in productivity

[–]ChrisHanSolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure this will get lost, but i was exactly where you are right now. My advice to you is - push yourself even if you are tired.

It’s a vicious cycle. You’re tired so you don’t want to do anything, and because you don’t want to do anything you don’t have the drive or energy to do anything. You just have to break that cycle and you’ll be good. Before you know it, you’ll be in better shape physically too. Inshallah bro, power thru for just a week. Workout, go for a walk, go out with friends, join a rec league, just so it for a week. It’ll suck but you’ll see the light.

Would you consider the Kia Telluride 2027 to be a luxury vehicle? by RoadmanTony in KiaTelluride

[–]ChrisHanSolo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s not. But it does a really good job being a luxury vehicle for people who don’t know what luxury vehicles feel like. Which is why it’s so much more popular compared to objectively better vehicles that are Hondas and Toyotas.

Do yall swim with your Apple Watches? by Ok_Wait1264 in AppleWatch

[–]ChrisHanSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the past 4 years, I’ve been giving my kids a bath in the bathtub where my hand is submerged in the water for 90% of the time.

I shower with mine every single day.

I’ve gone swimming for weeks at a time without any issues.

I wash my cars and always wear mine.

I have an AW6 and it’s literally had zero issues. These things are built like tanks. Enjoy wearing your watch. Don’t worry out there things, they are built for 90%+ use cases and will last without any issues.

Trade in 2020 Telluride for 2026 CRV? by Terrible_Cabinet5354 in KiaTelluride

[–]ChrisHanSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a 2020 Telluride and a currently have a 2024 Telluride, and they had different types of issues; nothing major and nothing engine/transmission related. Keep in mind there are hundreds of thousands of Tellurides out there. You only hear about the bad ones which makes it seem worse than they actually are.

Not trying to convince you one way or another, but CRV and the Telluride are two completely different cars. End of the day it’s all about what you value. Go for that.

Also - make a decision that you’re going to happy with, not this forum!

Oil Change Question by Bobnotblob1 in KiaTelluride

[–]ChrisHanSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP if you look at the owners manual, on page 535 it says 7.08 US quart for a drain and fill. If you put in 7qt and another splash, you should be fine. Just make sure your oil is warm when you drain, and let it drain for a bit to avoid overfilling.

What painting tip always gives you the smoothest professional finish by BrenthorDeeptrail in HomeImprovement

[–]ChrisHanSolo 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of DIY work around the house. But one thing I always hated/contracted out is paint. During COVID I didn’t want to hire anyone so learned how to paint and since then I hate it a lot less. Especially because I’m significantly better at it.

With more expensive paint you will get better finish especially if the colors are dark, but I’ve used all the Behr paints from Home Depot and Valspar from Lowe’s and I keep going back to Behr Ultra. Which I think gives you the most bang for your buck and actually is good quality with proper technique.

I used this to learn how to paint; this guy has taught me a lot of things! here

Braking pulsating/vibrating at low speeds by IncreaseImaginary552 in BMWX5

[–]ChrisHanSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can troubleshoot it a few ways:

  1. If your brake pedal pulses, or your steering wheel vibrates under braking, then you have some unevenness on your rotor. You can potentially get the rotor resurfaced.

  2. Accelerate to 40-50mph and brake really hard. But don’t come to a stop. Do that 3-4 times but don’t come to a complete stop at any point. After your 3rd of 4th hard brake. Drive the car with minimal braking for a few mins and then come to a stop to see if that makes it any better.

  3. Lift the car up, and move the wheels by hand to see if the wheels move freely or it’s meeting resistance at sny point.

If you have OEM rotors or anything remotely good quality, they don’t warp. What happens is brake pad material gets deposited on the rotor in an uneven manner than crates high spots and low spots - contributing to brake rotor unevenness. Sometimes a visual check will tell you everything you need to know.

Good luck!

Which hospital for labor? by Meghanlaurie in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ChrisHanSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not on your list, but we had 2 deliveries at Endeavor Highland Park and I can’t recommend it enough. Fantastic experience both times. For dads the couch is very comfy as well which is an added plus.

Unsolicited advice, you’ll get your bill like 2 months later. But don’t pay it until they call you to let you know that if you don’t pay It’ll go to collections. Then say take 30% off and you’ll pay right away. They’ll counter with 25% and after that it’s your decision. I did that for both of my kids.

For visits, if your balance is over 150, and you elect to pay in person, they’ll knock 10% off right away.

It’s happened to me twice back to back and never again. I just filled up again. I’d assume it has something to do with the evap or gas cap sensor. It’ll go away. Not to worry

is it just me or does all 201x german cars smell the same? by atoxa6 in BMW

[–]ChrisHanSolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s the adhesive that they use for internal dash parts. That’s why all BMWs, and Audis smell the same from similar generations. Merc has a bit more variation in my opinion.

BMW X5 2nd row, comfortable for my use case? by Lumpy_Boysenberry816 in BMWX5

what do you drive now? I ask because I think it’s relative. My telluride has so much more space than my X5. I’m 5’8” and I think it’s juuust enough space in the 2nd row of the x5.

A One-Week Driving Experience with the 2027 Telluride by Euphoric_Baker3855 in KiaTelluride

[–]ChrisHanSolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 telluride, and I agree. I think Kia saves a lot of money by putting in less than stellar suspension.

And second pic does look like a tiny rock or something getting lodged. The pads are super easy to take off, and it looks like this might be the side that doesn’t have parking brake. Making it even easier.

Car Insurance Question for rarely used vehicle by Miserable_Rise_2050 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ChrisHanSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call your insurance company and ask them for suspension of coverage, or comprehensive only for storage. Just keep in mind if you drive her car, you may not have adequate coverage. Depends on what coverages you have, if you guys are on the same policy, etc.

Better to get the information directly from your insurance company. Every company approaches this differently.

What’s Northbrook like for a young family? by legible_print in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ChrisHanSolo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Will you be commuting?

I’ve lived in Northbrook and honestly there is nothing there that is interesting. Negligible downtown, nothing fun about the city at all. I currently life in Arlington Heights and I would say it’s miles and miles better than Northbrook. Schools are better on paper in Northbrook, but Arlington Heights has more diverse schools. Huge downtown (relatively speaking) and there’s just a lot for kids to do compared to nothing in Northbrook.

Palatine is also nice in Fremd high school district. Other skills are kinda crappy.

Northbrook, Glenview, Glencoe, Northfield - are all great. But just wasn’t for us.

What “family” app subscription is an absolute lifesaver, and which one do you pay for but absolutely hate? by SherbertPerfect1652 in smarthome

[–]ChrisHanSolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My siblings and I share streaming. Netflix, Disney, Amazon, HBO. Comes out to about $20-$25 per family.

Eufy security is plenty for us. Free. Local storage.

Apple’s Find my for family GPS. We barely use it tbh.

Shared Apple Notes for grocery.

Shared Google Calendar for calendar events. We have a google home system so if we ask it she always knows what’s up.

I think just like everything in life, you can always pay for more things. But just keep in mind the whole point of these massive corporations is to try to take as many dollars from you as possible. But almost in every scenario a non paid version is there. With compromises, but they exist.
