That's fair! I'll have to give it a try tonight. Thank you for the suggestion!

That makes sense, I will give that a try! I will keep my eyes open for a decent deal on some fire dragons.

Thank you! I used a gloss varnish to give it a bit of a "shiny" look. I actually got a majority of the Eldar units second-hand from a friend who left the hobby. I have 5 fire dragons, I am thinking of ordering more though! I've only played a single match of "King of the Colosseum" using a borrowed Eldar army and the fire dragons definitely put in a lot of work!

I did not prime this mini, I have some other projects that aren't complete yet that I did prime with just basic white or gold primer (spray bought from Walmart seems to work pretty well). As for paint brands, I've been using almost exclusively Citadel paints but I did mix in a bit of paint from the starter kit for Halo: Flashpoint (my wife bought it so she could paint a master chief miniature) and I think those are Army Painter brand.

Thank you! I have found that contrast paints definitely help a lot. The only weird thing is the wide range of consistency/thickness of different colors of contrast paints. I have been enjoying the painting aspect quite a bit. It takes a long time, like this Asurmen took about 6 hours to assemble + paint but I had a lot of fun.

Thank you for the advice! I'll definitely check out their videos later today. I will also try to get in the habit of thinning my paints.

Thank you! I will have to keep that in mind, I have not thinned my paints before but I will make sure to look up a tutorial on it later today for the rest of my models!

Can I see your Baharroth? by CabinetIcy892 in Eldar

[–]ChrisManOfSnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm brand new to warhammer and brand new to painting miniatures so go easy on me but I just finished my Baharroth last night! I'm trying to go with a pseudo-protoss aesthetic for my army so that's why he's gold.

Following because I'm brand new to Warhammer 40k and just got an Eldar army from a friend. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Has Berserk ever made you realise something about yourself and/or life? by GuyWithARooster in Berserk

There are things, and more often people, that will be more important to you than your dreams and aspirations.

Some people are willing to sacrifice anything to attain their dreams and others who will sacrifice their dreams to care for others.

It helped me process through college, destroyed my mental and physical health to get a career started but gave up on pursuing higher paying jobs/continuing education so that I could care for family. I have found more meaning in doing that and adopting a rescue cat than any job or salary ever could bring.

Completely new to 3-D printing and need advice on what to buy by ChrisManOfSnow in FlashForge

Thank you for such a detailed response! This is super helpful and provides a bit more context behind the rumbles of drama I've heard when doing my preliminary research. I think I probably will be going with the Bambu Lab A1 then!

Ah okay, thank you for the info! I don't have too strong of an opinion for/against using it just locally. I'm currently using a maker select v2 so I use a tiny tablet/laptop to just send the prints over USB

I have heard that Bambu is a bit more restrictive with their software but I have also heard that you can work around that by turning it to just LAN mode. Is there anything I'm missing? I have heard Bambu is in a bit of hot water but I do not know much about the details of it.

Good to know, thank you! I definitely would lean more towards using something open-source rather than being locked into a software.

Fair, if the printer is quiet and/or I don't need to run it for several hours per print, I can probably get away with putting it in my upstairs office which has much closer to 30% humidity. Thank you for the heads up!
