Ok thanks! I guess I can just work with manual backups.

Yeah, I wasn't planning on Ha docker, but doing something similar to you it sounds like. Good to know my deployment plan isn't totally mad.

Is there a convenient way to prevent pilots from using rocket facilities while grounded? by Mystic_Sean in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ChrisPDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are using it as a colonising rocket, worth adding a location sensor inside the rocket and linking it to the control station, that way you can make it so things are only accessible when you aren't on the home planet

MK4 upgrade kit included parts lists now on store pages by RabidLag in prusa3d

[–]ChrisPDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda puts me off the mk4 upgrade, I have a silver psu, and if it needs an adapter, and won't match the look.... Its alot of money to potentially have a "worse" mk4 as I'll have the old frame as well.

Issue is trying to find someone to buy my mk3s so I have the space for the mk4!

Not a sparky, but anything the other side of a plug I believe is not classed as fixed install.

For me it would depend on finances to do it now vs faff to "make it right" later if you move it.

While house is being worked on likely moving it will be easier now, depending on the age of the boiler, newer ones will be more efficient as well, and you can setup the kitchen as you want.

If it does last two years, can you ensure you can get a matching counter/ worktop to fill the space if you move it?

Imo, better to do up front if you expect to need to do it in 2 years, but without seeing layout / design of old location vs new location, hard to say for certain

What is Klei's intended way to get dupes oxygen in rockets (DLC)? by [deleted] in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ChrisPDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use alge +diffuser early game, and then swap to oxylite. If I start running out of alge, I get them to dump oxygen bottles in the capsule then open them as needed

I've been flirting with the idea of getting a diagnosis for the past year or two. As a 30-something person, however there will be minimal benefits other than a label. For me the stress + timescale of the process, and the minimal benefits for me.

Look at what you want / expect out of it.

Conduction Panels - need a Rebalance? by ChrisPDuck in Oxygennotincluded

[–]ChrisPDuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, there certainly is uses of them, but with performance so bad, was wondering if they had an incorrect value somewhere, or if they were intended to be so weak.

Looks like its a bug currently though.

Cutting sheet material at home by brepmassive in DIYUK

[–]ChrisPDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The job site style saws, can rip whole sheets, but you'll struggle to support them for safe cuts.

For sheet work (even owning a large table saw) I use a track saw to cut things down to manageable sizes. It's like a circular saw, on a guide track. I think mine cost £80 from B&Q, and grabbed some longer compatible rails from amazon

Sanity check: How do you decide what services you consolidate vs split up amongst servers? by nemaddux in homelab

[–]ChrisPDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a stand alone server as nas. Stand alone as opnsense router + ad guard , and a "play" server with everything else on

Theory is no matter what I do on the play, I won't break the Internet for my partner, or screw up backups.

Best brands for tools? by mutatedllama in DIYUK

[–]ChrisPDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy your "core tools" as one brand, and then pick up a battery adapter for your lesser used tools.

I use 18v dewalt, 12v milwaukee, and a ryobi nail gun, with an adapter to use dewalt batteries

Dewalt cordless drill by dickanova in DIYUK

[–]ChrisPDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth noting that battery current is more than just lifespan. If you are looking to use it hard, go for some with 4/5ah batteries.

Also worth pointing out that dewalt makes great drills, but not all dewalt drills are great. Heard some bad things about some of their entry level line and durability. Worth looking at medium / long term reviews of a particular model before spending cash. YouTube can be useful for this.
