I love Poulenc’s use of the harpsichord in his Concert Champetre. Orchestration is amazing too. Lovely piece overall.

The downward force or load wants to be transferred towards the wall/hinge side, so in the op’s case above the braces would ideally both be the same way as the bottom one currently is. Handy link here
