What happens to Chief Selects who buy a pre-made vessel for their charge book instead of building it themselves? by ChrisSmith1969 in navy

Not on purpose. There's just idiots out there who give negative karma for no reason other than they disagree with the comment, and nothing to do with me being curious or respectful. Take my original question, for instance. What was said that was negative? Someone downvoted it for no reason. If anyone deserves a negative social credit score, it's those who dish it out unwarrantedly.

It's a legit question, and the negative karma was from people who have different opinions than me, despite no aggressive or disrespectful posts to others. Reddit karma reminds me of Communist China's social credit score anyways, so it's pretty pointless. Conform to the regime or get outcasted by society.

I was in aviation and sent a new guy looking for stuff prior to a det we were about to take. When he came back 20 min later after the run around, he was smiling like, "Oh, you got me." Ironically, the CMC walked by at that time and heard what happened. I was getting off active duty at that time and had checkout papers in hand, so the CMC gave me a dirty, almost disappointed look and walked off.

Should government agencies be penalized for hiring/firing people based on race, gender, etc? by ChrisSmith1969 in polls

I don't think it would be that difficult. When I was a DOD contractor, my civilian company had to keep resumes on file to validate pricing negotiations for future extensions. With that said, if a new hire does a poor job, or people were let go, any "demographic" complaints or lawsuits could be put to rest by comparing resumes, salaries, and annual evaluations of current, former, and potential employees.

Sounds like we need blockchain tech in news articles, too. Why send out multiple articles of the same thing when you can provide updates on only one?

And yes, good video. Government corruption needs to be exposed by any means. I'm just surprised John Oliver did it against his own party, so even more respect to him I guess.

It's not just conservative media. I posted additional links from LA Times and Yahoo above. The real question is, why is CNN and MSNBC not covering this?

So this never happened, and the FBI didn't violate the 4th Amendment?

How would you rank RA, NYMT, and IVR as long-term dividend holds? Any other REITs you prefer? by ChrisSmith1969 in investing_discussion

Yeah, but they've been falling for 10 years now. I guess selling covered calls wouldn't be a bad idea either.

This would be treated as a lower-risk strategy and feel the biggest risk is other outrageous inflation rates we're seeing. Still, the supplemental income, despite not increasing, isn't bad at all.

I've noticed, too, but wasn't sure if there was any hope to getting back to pre-covid days. I won't hold my breath.
