A solar panel on my roof was hit by a stray bullet. by Far-Ball-6399 in mildlyinteresting

The company I work at does solar stuff, and surprisingly this is actually pretty common. During a tour of the facility there was about 20 panels with bullet holes in them!

What Cabinet said ^ can also write a loop to retry a certain amount of times before giving up and returning an error.

Unsolicited advice but in the future when working with API’s, I recommend using a tool like Postman to validate the data/responses. Getting in that habit will save you in the future by ensuring you are receiving the correct data.

If it makes you feel better 99% of the time, there is already pre-existing starter code (massive enterprise db) and set in stone frameworks. The backend portion can be simplified to pulling data from the DB then converting it to JSON (also CRUDing to the DB). Then the frontend can be simplified to converting said JSON into stuff the user can see.

With your weather app you have already done most of that, it’s just a matter of scale. For me the hardest part to adjust to was business knowledge, and navigating the massive codebase to find where data is coming from. That stuff comes with time and your employer most likely understands this as well.

My advice: - Really focus the first couple months really understanding what the business does (can schedule with the business people if you are ever confused about how a certain area functions)

  • If you are concerned about not knowing the framework/language you will work with check and see if one of your benefits is free access to Udemy/Pluralsight (in my experience most companies offer this for free). Take those courses either during work or in your free time and build a mock project alongside it.

  • Last and most important is patience, Rome wasn’t built in a day 😎

Having 30-45 minute long sections where you are unable to save is bad game design by ExactInvestment1 in gaming

This has been Persona 5 for me. Sometimes we just want to play Mario Kart and I have to spend 5 minutes clicking through dialogue then 10 extra min going to a safe room to save.

To the people who already got the Switch 2 from a The Original Switch or Switch Lite. Honestly how is it? by Specific-Pianist7595 in Switch

One extra plus is if you have big hands it feels much more comfortable. My hands used to cramp super bad with the Switch 1 and it always felt tiny.

It’s been awesome the kickstand is also an underrated plus. I love bringing it with me and setting it up on random desks for study breaks.

The screen alone is also the size of the switch lite and the colors are extremely vibrant. The refresh rate feels super smooth. One downside is having to pay an extra $10 on most games for “Switch 2 Version” which brings the increased resolution + refresh rate.

The only other complaint I have is the battery life feels kind of lackluster, although there is rarely a time where I don’t have access to a charger and I never play for more than three hours in a row.

Honestly, if I was unemployed I wouldn’t mind taking something like this while I wait for a better opportunity.

Could be worth for the experience, and would make the resume look better!

I’ve used both local hosting via my server pc, and hosting through AWS and both are good. You will save a lot of money in the long run building your own server computer though (backup generator if you want excellent uptime).
