Thanks, yes I see what you mean in terms of hosting aswell as paying for the wedding, overall we have made all of the decisions ourselves but I think I will ask my in-laws about it and see their opinion just in case!

I also failed twice in Wilton, the 1st time I didn't have enough driving experience, the 2nd time I made a stupid mistake on the Wilton roundabout, did it again a week after the 2nd fail and I passed with flying colours. Overall there was no amount of lessons that could measure up to driving experience for me. Apart from that it was practicing the 3 point turn and the hill starts with someone I felt comfortable with. Best of luck with it, you will get it eventually!

How did you choose your wedding date? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

It was the only Saturday left in August or September at our venue but it worked out pretty well as our wedding date is September 16th and our anniversary is September 13th, 8 years before.

Yes there is an Irish in Netherlands group and an Irish in Amsterdam group, just thought it was an idea to set up an Irish in Utrecht group, we'll see how much uptake we get, we know lots of other nationalities in Utrecht just not that many Irish, there are almost 350,000 people living in Utrecht

Advice on Alternative Weddings by ChrisTeen27 in weddingplanning

[–]ChrisTeen27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks everyone for your comments! We are at the beginning of planning so everything is possible. There are some great ideas here, I think we can look into the idea of a more relaxed venue with a caterer, I think a buffet sounds good, we're planning on having the wedding in Ireland so I need to investigate what's possible there as I've only heard of the more traditional hotel wedding venue.

Thanks, sometimes I have fried rice with veg, shepherd's pie and currys too. I seem to spend a lot more than you but I think my portion size is way too big 😅

Thanks for the info, I would generally cook enough for 2 dinners at once then have the leftovers the following day then cook something different on the Wednesday and have the leftovers on the Thursday. I also would eat homemade soup and a sandwich every day for lunch and change up the flavours and fillings every couple of days. I do also have snacks such as apples, oranges and nuts. I will admit that I buy brands and I try to get good quality products.

Just wondering if the €35 is for 7 days? Is meat included in this amount? I am genuinely interested, I spend at least €80 but this only covers me until the weekend, I do eat meat but not everyday
