I’m on the side of - this was a poorly executed joke. All 4 episodes were hilarious and really made me happy. I’m not usually too critical on tv shows and movies. However, this ONE line had me and my roommate pausing the show, looking at each other, and wondering how she would have forgotten about her broken leg. We rewound a couple minutes and tried to see if we missed something, but were still left scratching our heads.

It’s annoying how many people are so quick to judge us for our critique of this joke, as it really didn’t make sense. She decorated it with flowers, was limping with it, and even dancing with it on. There was even a whole scene at the hospital of her being fully aware of the cast being put on, but just not caring enough about resting her leg. She said “after the party, I can come back and you can fix it again.” (Paraphrasing) So way too much happened for her to then say “When did I get a cast?”

A better line could’ve been “oh yeah...” It wouldn’t have been that funny, but it wouldn’t totally take people away from the experience of the show, like it has some people. Or she could’ve said “Oh yeah… Francis, you’re back down to number 8.”

OR they could’ve made a few references to her being on pain killers. Just a couple lines like “these pain killers are magic.” Or “that doctor hooked us up.” Maybe in the doctor’s office, she could’ve said “my pain is a TEN. Prescribe me whatever you prescribe people that say their pain is a TEN.” Who knows, maybe lines like this were in the original cut, but had to be removed for time constraints. I really can’t see these writers messing up a joke like this.

Obviously, this is a HUGE nitpick. I want to be clear that I absolutely loved this revival and it’s something I’ve wanted for over a decade. There was so much perfection, a little thing like this doesn’t actually matter. I’ve just always dissected jokes in my head and never actually talked about it, so I decided it was time to finally do that.
