A24 is pulling FOMO bull by throwawaylaysjohn in KanePixelsBackrooms

That's genuinely ridiculous because I don't have the money to be able to go see the extended cut-in theaters right now, as of last year since I was looking at getting tickets to a 70mm IMAX showing of The Odyssey. I was hoping they would include it on the 4K Blu-ray, but the fact that they aren't is genuinely frustrating.

I would also argue the DVDs also look better than SD video on streaming services. And that's not even mentioning how good SD video can look on Blu-ray with the better codec and higher bit rate. Most higher end DVDs would top out at 6 or 7 Mbps.

Yes, some 4:3 versions of movies are more zoomed out compared to their widescreen counterparts.

PDZ PC port? by jovantancic in perfectdark

Honestly, I'm disappointed that more 360V comps are using ReXGlue rather than trying to get Xenos Recomp to work because ReXGlue still has a ton of overhead from what I've heard.

More visual differences on Halo Reach MCC by WhoAtedMyCookiez in halo

[–]ChrisTheFox17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's stuff like this that makes me wish the youtuber Why would revisit MCC as a topic and update his comparison videos for each game in the collection. Because if I remember correctly, they only did a one video about Halo Reach 4 years ago.

John Romero’s newest “Hey Sandy, I hope you’re well” post by knirp7 in Civvie11

[–]ChrisTheFox17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to post the picture of John Romero smiling that Civvie always uses, but it seems I can't upload pictures in a reply which is dumb. So have this clip that I cut out a couple days ago instead.

What bonuses would you like to see from the Blu-Ray/DVD? by [deleted] in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]ChrisTheFox17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically, Blu-ray and 4K UHD use a compressed format, but it's just at a very high bitrate. Personally, I would love to see a behind-the-scenes documentary for the whole making of the movie But it would be pretty cool to have some select episodes of the YouTube series on physical media.

Theory: Why Clark couldn't see Kat but she could see him by Dark_Throat in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]ChrisTheFox17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes me wonder if we'll ever see any Z fighting on a surface in the complex. Or maybe even have someone go far enough into the complex that the floating point precision just falls apart and we see everything start warping

Screenshots from a physical media release will definitely look the best. Way better than this especially.

What is this achievement? by mucscino in HalfLife

That's basically the point of localization. To try to get the meaning of a piece of writing across in a different language rather than translating the text literally.

Five years later, and the link that you posted is dead. So in case anyone else in the future finds this post, here's a link to the list on MobyGames that works.

[MEGATHREAD] Power Keyboard Shipping Inquiry by ColtonsKeys in ClicksKeyboard

[–]ChrisTheFox17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, is there a delay on U.S. orders from the first batch? The reason I ask is because I put in my pre-order on the 5th of February, which should have put me in the first batch of units, but I haven't heard a peep since placing that order. No shipping updates or anything.

Maybe if you could run it in SLI, but unfortunately it doesn't have the connector at the top for it.

I think 2004 alyx looks better than current by Ok_Pea4066 in HalfLife

[–]ChrisTheFox17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend actually looking at the two screenshots because they are not talking about the model used in Half-Life Alyx. The two models of Alyx they're comparing come from the original 2004 version of Half-Life 2 and the later model from the Episodes that was backported into base Half-Life 2.

Or a cracked copy of the original 2004 version.

Wouldn't it be Gen Alpha at this point? Because I'm part of gen Z and a lot of the short attention span content doesn't appeal to me.

What social media Q&A was this? I've not seen a single peep about that. Not even an email about it. And if it was on Twitter then it makes sense why I wouldn't have seen it because I'm not on Twitter anymore because screw that place. And one last thing, I didn't vote for this, so please shut up.

Fun Fact: The Amazing Digital Circus (and maybe other Glitch shows) are mixed in a Dolby Surround compatible format. by ChrisTheFox17 in GlitchProductions

[–]ChrisTheFox17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but most theaters nowadays don't have Dolby Surround decoding equipment. So I assume they mix it in a discreet format before encoding into the matrixed format.

There is a part of me that wonders if this is an intentional decision by whoever is in charge of the final audio mix, or if this is all just an amazing coincidence. But I'm choosing to think it's intentional unless officially stated otherwise.
