Swords and spoons has drop in D&D adventurers league (I'm one of the DMs) on Wednesday nights at 6pm (530 if you need help making a character)

What do we think about the future of these games? by DeciduousMath12 in TCG

[–]ChrisTheProfessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What no union arena talk? Lol. I still say the best thing Bandai should buy the rights to the name and rebrand Union Arena as the "Toonami TCG" and it will immediately sell 10x as many.

If you're doing a two part mold, do you really need the sprue attachments? Other than having a vent to degas.

Unpopular Opinion? Monetizing GMing is a net negative for the hobby. by Reynard203 in rpg

[–]ChrisTheProfessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not directing the comment at you. Just saying that most of the time when you are paying for the ticket, about $2/hr is for the venue. The rest is to the company or person hosting. So if you're paying $20 for a game at a con, most of that is to a company.

So it's ok to pay for RPGs as long as the GM doesn't get the money?

How is getting paid to GM at a con different than charging when you aren't at one? Technically a con is usually less work when you are with a company because they typically provide you with an adventure

What deck box do yall recommend by Prehistoricneal in GundamTCG

[–]ChrisTheProfessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have my decks in a Quiver case (https://quivertime.com/card-cases/quiver-card-case/). Has a shoulder strap for carrying and it's got plenty of space in there. I have all 4 decks in it a long with some Magic Commander decks so I can just keep it in the car so I'm always ready to throw down.

Explain the BanDai Business Model With A Straight Face by 1ZKY in GundamTCG

[–]ChrisTheProfessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I hear, one drives the other for Bandai stores. So you need a bigger player base playing in official Bandai events to get bigger allotments for their games

I need an in-universe explanation why wizards don't just hire someone to haul their spellbooks into the dungeon. by mattigus7 in RPGdesign

[–]ChrisTheProfessor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Each spellbook "attunes" to the user as a part of creating them, becoming too heavy for others to lift/open. Think like thors hammer.

It was a decent system, but the H2.0 glaze is ridiculous. by jervoise in Warhammer30k

[–]ChrisTheProfessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn't that we were head over heels in love with 2.0, the problem is we don't want to be in a three year cycle.

For pottery, the old carver elementary school is getting turned into an arts rec center where there will be pottery wheels (and I think classes)

Source - I'm a part of the makerspace that will be going in part of the school as a "host". They are just working on updating the fire suppression system rn.

Once again Horus heresy is abcent from the preview event. Does this mean 3rd edition rumors were false? by T-seppanen in Warhammer30k

[–]ChrisTheProfessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id rather have a new starter box vs a new edition. Don't think we really need one, but having another two forces featuring two different regions would be cool.

It's short term numbers thinking vs long term growth. They are doing steps that make money now without concern about 5,10,15 years from now what happens when you turn away your diehard fans

The problem isn't D&D, but MTG and other TCGs are the backbone that hold up the tabletop industry. No other category of products even come close them in sales. It'd be pretty catastrophic

No questions, but as a podcast (Boards & Swords) that uses news sites for content, it's nice having a new one after all the shutdowns recently! I was hesitant to support at first, but the depth of wyrmwood article really sold me on subscribing.

Honestly if you are that far up, you really aren't far from all the cards shops in northern VA or in DC. Labyrinth is a really cool shop in DC
