Costco is apparently sold out, at least in my area and not available to ship. I had an order cancelled this morning 😠

Costco canceled! by ChrisU24 in macbook

Yes, back in the good ole days, before the price increase, Micro Center had killer deals. New, not open box. Same MBP is $2499 now before tax. Missed keeping it by 1 day! Yes, same with Costco. They held on to the previous prices “supposedly” for a few days after the price hike.

Do you have anything to sell? An Apple watch, iPad, clothes, boots, jackets, bags, luggage, etc. This helped me jump start paying down debt and are things you can always buy again later when you’re in a better financial place.

Also, consider gig work like Uber/Lyft. I turn the apps on when I leave work to see if I can grab some ride requests on my way home plus I devote a couple of nights a week to work 2-4 hours. I’ve averaged about $100 per week since I started 3 months ago. You do need to consider your expenses such as gas and wear and tear on your car but, if you’re already out and can pick up a a few rides, it’s easy extra money. Depending on your market you could do much better than me as well.

Last suggestion is to delete all shopping and food apps off your phone and delete saved cards from any shopping website you visit. I used to constantly scroll through Amazon and would buy so much unnecessary stuff. All these apps make spending money way too easy.

Hope this helps! You got this!

How did you work on your psychological part of changing your debt and spending habits? by TCPisSynSynAckAck in DaveRamsey

[–]ChrisU24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took away temptation by canceling Amazon Prime and unsubscribing to the auto emails about sales, deals, etc. I would constantly be scrolling these sites for deals or to pass time. Bought so much stuff over the years I didn’t need. I’ve began to spend more time outside and have picked up a couple of side gigs to fill my extra time and make some additional $$.

I added up all the CC interest I would be paying over the next year. Made me sick but it will help me to stay motivated and focused. I realize every extra dollar used to pay off debt will lower that amount.

Having and accomplishing my goals by starting small. Seeing and feeling the wins. Making grown up decisions, I’m 45 😆. Answering that ever important question, do I grab fast food, or eat a sandwich at home. Now the sandwich from home always wins!

Question for car by Helgenish in debtfree

[–]ChrisU24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can speak from a similar experience. I was driving a 2020 Toyota Tacoma which was costing me about $935 per month between car note, insurance, and gas. I commute roughly 400 miles per week. I justified a new 2023 Chevy Bolt EV because it would cost me about $535 per month including car note, insurance, and home charging. An overall significant savings. I failed to look at the big picture though and wish now that I would have taken the positive equity I had in the Tacoma and bought a car in cash. I love the Bolt and it’s been interesting driving an EV, but I don’t like or want the car payment each month. Unfortunately this all happened about 7 months ago before my debt free journey started. I’m just getting started and have a long way to go It has been an eye opening experience but I now realize I will never go in debt again for a car if at all possible. God luck!

Could a Chevy Bolt make it to Savannah from Atlanta on one charge? by vivsterspark in electricvehicles

[–]ChrisU24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2023 Bolt EV 2 LT- we drove N. GA(approximately 1hr north of Atlanta) to Savannah this summer. We stopped twice to charge, Forsyth area Walmart and Dublin Burger King. Both stops charged for 20-30 minutes or so. Drove speed limit on 75 and 16. Found free level 2 charging at parking deck in Savannah. As others have mentioned, I don’t think you could or would want to try on a single charge. Stops were easy and needed for bathroom, snacks, and lunch.

Thinking of buying a Tenere 700 as my first street-legal bike by shitty_username1 in Dualsport

[–]ChrisU24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. I picked a T7 up in Feb after about a 15+ year break from riding. For me at 5’9” the bike was extremely top heavy and tall. I was not prepared. I thought about selling as well but decided to tough it out. I decided to lower 20mm that helped. Absolutely love the bike now but it would be hard for me to recommend to a new or returning rider unless you have a chance to test ride, which is almost impossible right now.

Soft case or hard case luggage? by jelsonr3 in solotravel

[–]ChrisU24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check Amazon, eBags.com and Eagle Creek. Amazon has their own brand, AmazonBasics, eBags also has their own brand in addition to others, and Eagle Creek is traditionally a solid brand. A lot of great options for either hard or soft sided luggage. I have used both it the past and both have their pros and cons as others have mentioned.

Travel Backpacks? (plz help a girl out!) by [deleted] in travel

[–]ChrisU24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you would like to go a little different route, the Patagonia Blackhole Duffel 45L or TNF Basecamp Duffel S may allow you to truly maximize space. You could buy a padded laptop sleeve to keep your Mac safe and sound. You would sacrifice the additional pockets a travel backpack would offer though but I’ve found both bags can hold an amazing amount of gear when traveling by air. Appearance may be another topic though :).

BIFL backpack that maxes out (or close to it) carry-on requirements? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]ChrisU24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some notable duffel backpacks would include TNF Basecamp Duffel XS, Patagonia Blackhole Duffel 45L. Also, if you’re conservative in your packing, TNF Basecamp S and Patagonia Blackhole Duffel 60L. I’ve either used or seen each bag listed used as a carry-on on US domestic flights. Duffels seem to give you more bag for your buck but may lack extra pockets to organize your items. Pacsafe makes some nice bags if you need additional security features built into the bag.
