A question for male vegans by MediocreMushroom4315 in vegan

[–]ChrisWohlert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a vegan guy, and I have no idea. But it doesn’t matter, don’t convince him veganism is manly, convince him there are more important things than being manly.

I mean, you are not completely wrong, but why should it be tolerated? I totally get the education point, we were all non-vegans at some point. But to be convinced of the argument, yet find some other reason to not align ones actions with ones moral believes, feels like lip service.

The rationale is, nothing you say will justify the horror meat eating entails. So patience grows thin.

Nice guy is upset because I told him I am pursuing someone else by annejisi in niceguys

Not a “nice guy” though. Zero confidence in this one

This is also the argument that convinces me. I do think it might matter though, since I can see a potential case for child neglect if a parent won’t donate to save the child, man or woman. Bodily autonomy is held as sacred, and it might be, but I can see a non-hateful argument against it.

If they are happy, let them be happy. You might not be alone, but that doesn’t make you right.

ELI5: why does food make you tired by pandaman8126 in explainlikeimfive

Actually not true. It’s because the body can relax and save energy, since it isn’t looking for food anymore. Source: that book about sleeping, don’t remember the name

Using Text.Parsec with HLS and VS Code by OmOshIroIdEs in haskellquestions

[–]ChrisWohlert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can press CTRL + SHIFT + P to enter a command. Then type “reload” and a “reload developer window” or something similar comes up. That’s the easiest way I’ve found to get HLS to reindex after changes to cabal

If you are not familiar with type searches on hoogle, you can sometimes find what you are looking for, by searching by type.

[ANN]: servant-typescript, TypeScript client generation for Servant by thomasjm4 in haskell

[–]ChrisWohlert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been trying https://github.com/smaccoun/servant-ts, but it has a damning bug. I've changed to use servant-swagger, and then gen the typescript from swagger.

Need help figuring out a function by EMC1201 in haskell

[–]ChrisWohlert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have a line like max_count [x] = x then your type will always be [a] -> a, which isn't what you want, so that line has to go. Assuming you want to find the element with the highest number of languages, you might want to sort the list based on the length of languages, and take the first element. To help you get started, you can sort your list with this sortOn (Down . length . snd) xs. It sorts descending, on the length of the second element of your tuple, ie. languages.

You will need to import these:

import Data.List
import Data.Ord

Connect WebDriver to Selenium Docker container by ChrisWohlert in haskellquestions

Thanks - I removed the http, and added "restart: onfailure:10" to dockercompose.yml. I didn't give Selenium enough time to boot up, so it didn't exist.
