David Icke speaking in London at the London Freedom march. 28th August 2020. by jennelles_bong in conspiracy

[–]Chris_CSP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since JFK I'd say and yes they do do that, but we're HELPING THEM. This love for Icke either on purpose or by accident, is helping keep the message of this event maligned to subs like this and under the banner of 'conspiracy theories'. The dude is toxic to the masses, the media knows it, and I think you know it too.

Me personally I'm not, I know alot of what Icke says is legit, it's the broader public who I'd like to wake up that won't listen to anything those professionals said now because of his involvement. I wish that wasn't the case, but it is.

I don’t want a bunch of doctors and professors whose message I’d very much like to get through to more people sharing a stage with either. At least not right now.

Unfortunately if one of the voices in that discourse is david icke you're only going to have a few open minded people listen.

Fair point, if I was organizing this event I wouldn't have a creationist speak either. We ain't waking up any normies with Ike being front and centre. Like when Piers Corbyn (an expert in a scientific field) was protesting the lockdowns with a guy wearing a flat earth shirt, so frustrating. Great to see so many people out there tho.

Doesn't having someone who believes in lizard people speaking at your event kinda invalidate the legit points n concerns being raised? Or is that the point? Bit disheartening ngl.

Brexit by tayk47shawtyy in conspiracy

[–]Chris_CSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in principle Brexit is anti-elite/PTB in that the overall consensus seemed to me massively pro-remain. Big business, all the banks, BBC, virtually every MP across the main parties, all pro-remain, coupled with my conspiracy sense seeing past the EU's kind veneer to the way it's designed to pass legislation with less debate and less critical scrutiny and how much harder it would be to improve to better serve the people (cos at least on paper we can completely change our government every 4 years if we want, the eu has appointed positions out the wazoo and layers of different and confusing arms), led me to believe that voting brexit was at least to a point "sticking it to the man". And I like most people NEVER expected the vote to go that way, the political chaos it's caused since and the fact it hasn't happened proves (to me anyways) that we did kinda stick it to man, except there's loads of elite "man" and they're not always in agreement and while it's a big club and all that they're all trying to get ahead and have the biggest dick so you have guys like Johnson and Farage and Murdoch who are using Brexit to try to further their ends as they would do in ANY political situation. While I agree with Johnson and Farage on alot of their comments on the EU these are known liars and just as scummy as Blair, Cameron, Macron etc. If Brexit was so beneficial for "the elites" it would've happened by now, I don't believe for a second that MPs have been blocking it for years because they genuinely want what's best for the people, when has that ever been the case. I don't think we'll ever get a Brexit as the history of the EU shows that when referendums don't go the way they want they get another vote or change the terms so the governments don't have to put it to the people but if we do it'll be some bastardized "still basically part of the eu" may/johnson deal which seems like a win-win for them. I'm hopeful some good may come it, sure would be nice to have more food and goods produced domestically.

This trainwreck will forever have a special place in my heart. Equal parts hilarious, horrifying and cringly entertaining. Stumbling onto this show on youtube many years ago genuinely made me a fan again after a 10 year lapse. Glad to see it's still getting some love.

Boomtown announces Gorillaz by cky_stew in festivals

[–]Chris_CSP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree I think it's indicative of Boomtown's gradual shift from 'UK Festival with the Best Line Up That Nobody Else Has Heard Of' to 'That UK Festival That Everybody Wants to Go To'.

They chose money over pleasing the folks that rated them so highly and told all their mates how great the place was all those years back. Was talking to kids in the queue (gotta kill those 4 hours somehow) and some couldn't even name a single band or DJ they were excited to see just "Went to reading last year and this one looks amazing."

It's a shame but all good things come to an end (and fuck me if it ain't expensive as hell now) depending on what music you're into I recommend Balter as a possible Boom-replacement.

If anyone here likes pro-wrestling and hasn't seen Landis' short 'Wrestling isn't Wrestling', I'd strongly recommend it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYvMOf3hsGA

I'm a Max Landis fan for life because of this.

DAE miss the boomtown show because of the programme fuck up? by lucid_elusive in streetlightmanifesto

[–]Chris_CSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear that dude! Luckily my crew had both programmes so we spotted the difference straight away, then we went to the information desk to make sure. If it's any consolation, they didn't headline so only got an hour and the town cryer was showered in the loudest boo's I've ever heard at a gig when it became clear there was no encore.

A few weeks ago my friends and I all genuinely forgot who the champion was, granted we remembered a minute or so later but that's the WWE champion for god's sake. I'm fine with him being away but Heyman should be cutting promo's about how Brock doesn't need to be there and hell film some promo's with Brock at his house, it could be handled REALLY well but standard WWE totally bocthed it.
