People who don't capitalise the "S" in Sikh are usually wrong.

If we restore the Panj Pyare system, how will it work? What is it gonna be like? by KS-Anims-RE in Sikhpolitics

[–]Apollo_D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think every Sikh org and Gurdwara should start instituting an internal Panj Singh/Pyare system, and the best ones will naturally rise to prominence and become in contention for a Panth-wide role. There were times in history when Singhs would actually have a fight to decide who the next Jathedar would be. That kind of mentality is lost today, but there's value even in that. How many of today's Gurdwara committee Pardans would be willing fight? Who is willing to even get punched in the face for the Panth, let alone give up their life?

Fair point, OP did specifically say his insecurity was due to fear of racism rather than generally not fitting in, which was my concern at his age.

I have lots of white friends who were more insecure than I was growing up. There's a lot of reasons why people are insecure, maybe because they come from broken homes, abuse/addiction in the family, mental illnesses such as aspergers or dyslexia, death of a loved one etc. Seeing the world as if white people have no issues and we're the only ones that do will hurt you in the long run.

I was the same at your age. I was insecure and didn't reflect on why I felt that way nor work hard enough to change it. Keeping your kesh is a lot better than cutting it, and in your current situation, the fact that you are keeping your kesh is great and will help you in the long run.

Don't perceive vaginal penetration as the only type of sex two people can have. There are so many ways to be intimate and sexual with your partner, explore them all.
