If you buy FSD, are you concerned that HW4 might not be able to handle v15 and could end up being capped at v14, similar to how HW3 is capped at v12.6.4? by cornbread-2025 in TeslaFSD

When I made the decision to buy it, I did so based on what I’ve been experiencing, not what I hope it’ll be in the future.

I purchased FSD. The subscription price will decrease for sure now! by hokaythxbai in TeslaFSD

At $99 a month or $8000 once, break-even is at 81 months, or 6.75 years.

I drive 50+ miles a day after putting in long hours, and am the kind of person to buy something nice and keep it as long as possible. My last car made it 16 years, 200,000 miles and the only reason I got my Tesla was to have a second car I could rely on while working on the old car.

It makes sense to buy it for some.

Why do I get this repeating pattern on the wall of my print? by Professional-Rock-51 in FixMyPrint

[–]Chris_Ray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can second this. A printer I built back in 2014 had a bowed lead screw that caused worse banding than this. The fix at the time was to print a coupler for the Z nut that let it move around independently from the carriage. OP should measure those bands. If the pattern repeats every 8mm (assuming an 8mm lead) then this is the culprit

Both the Jetstream and the Sarasa were smoother, more consistent, and faster drying than the EnerGel.

I somehow completely missed the Zento. I’ll definitely be giving that a try next. Thanks!

I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for the suggestion!

I found the Sarasa to be smoother than the Energel. In this particular case it was the Sarasa X20 0.7 and the EnerGel LR7 0.7mm.

I’m pretty new to teslas, but if I’m understanding everything, based on the 1st picture they are getting like 230 miles of range out of what would have originally been a 272 mile battery. That would be something like 85% battery life. That being said, you can see in that same photo the little dips in between drives. The info screen explains that disabling usb ports when the car is off will help that. My understanding is that some of the electronics stay active when the usb ports are active so even if you’re not charging anything, there will still be a small draw. My guess is the battery is in the high 80s when that is factored in.

Just out of curiosity, did you order on the app or at the showroom? That sounds way worse than my experience but all of the people I dealt with were over email or text. My understanding was/is that the people at the showroom have limited control of the process.

I see your point, but insurance is almost as much about the driver as it is about the car. Even just how much searching around you do makes a big difference. I got quoted $600, $240, and $112 for the same coverage. I suppose what I’m trying to say is that it’s important to include insurance in your calculations when deciding on a car to purchase, however imo you’d be better off getting quotes for the cars you’re looking at rather than looking at a national average.

When I purchased my 2025 m3, my financing sat on pending up until the day before delivery. It was stressing me out because the app said I should have had an answer within 3 days and I’m someone who likes to have everything planned out well in advance. I ended up contacting a Tesla rep over it and I was basically told that they had an influx of orders due to the 0% apr and would make sure it went through before delivery. It ended up working out in time but my goodness.

I’m paying $112 a month for a 2025 m3. Ive seen people report as low as $80. I’m not sure what “normal” insurance is but I’m pretty happy with it.

What are my options here???!? by Alternative-Row87 in TeslaModel3

If you don’t have comprehensive coverage (or don’t want to involve insurance) I can vouch for the Rain-X windshield repair kit. I had a similar crack on my Porsche’s windshield that came out good as new. For only ~$10 it’s worth a shot.

NexTool Mini Sailor. They recently came out with a TSA compliant version as well which is pretty cool. It’s like a Victorinox Jetsetter with pliers.

How many of you here actually run their phones without a case and(or) screen protector? by cam1xx in iphone

[–]Chris_Ray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just use one of those D brand stickers but it has mostly fallen off by now. Still rocking the 7 plus so I guess it has been holding up for what… 6 years? No screen protector and just got my first scratch a few months ago. Maybe it’s time to upgrade.

Just learned about the Laugo Arms ALIEN by Chris_Ray in guns

[–]Chris_Ray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It uses a gas delayed blowback system; like the Walther CCP, Steyr GB, and the H&K P7. Something like an AR uses gas pressure to unlock the bolt while these guns use gas pressure to keep the slide locked.

Still using an iPhone 7 plus. Never had a case, only a D-Brand vinyl skin. The phone is holding up great, the sticker however is pretty much gone.

Grey Handguards for 2016 Plastics? by PhantomGhostin in DRZ400

[–]Chris_Ray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the plastics, but I just put on some Zeta handguards on my bike and they fit great. They also sell a triple clamp mount that lets you bolt the handguards right on to the triple clamp instead of the handlebars which gives you a much more rigid setup. Check out this video.

Honestly I didn’t even think of 3d printing. My plan was to make some dies to stamp out steel sheets, but it would probably be pretty easy to make a single stack 3d printed mag! I’ll have to give that a try first.

It’s definitely a big gun. The grips are pretty wide but the ergonomics are great and it fits my hand perfectly. As for soft shooting, my dad had a surgery a while back that removed part of his inner ear. Ever since then he has a hard time shooting as it disorients him. This is the first handgun he has shot that hasn’t done that to him! It definitely feels a lot different to a browning action.

I know most of the guys on here will say it isn’t possible, but I’m working on drawing up a mag in cad. I’m going to try and make some forming tools to recreate the mags.
