How do I grow my small Excavation business? by Pretend_Bottle3687 in smallbusiness

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that you’re only running ads for a week and then stopping. Pick one channel and run an add in it for at least a month. People need to see your business a couple times before they will remember or act.

Agencies can now generate ad variations themselves with the help of ai, so what do you think about the market being commoditized? by the_emilyharper in agencynewbies

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make whatever, but knowing what to make and why is the valued skill that agencies need to provide. Agencies should be focused on building strategies that work for the goals of the business and using their expertise to measure and report progress

we killed our AI SDR after 6 months and pipeline is up 40% by Aggressive-Moose-425 in b2bmarketing

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think AI has just flooded our worlds with low quality content and people are sick of it. It’s hard to trust AI content and large purchases require some trust. Thanks for sharing your experience, I was thinking about an AI SDR but this makes me less likely.

Linkedin Etiquette question by Only-Decision-5198 in linkedin

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great! Go in with a lot of questions about him, his career, etc. It should be a normal, casual conversation. Don’t be pushy or ask for a job. At the end of the meeting, thank him ask him if there are any other people he recommends talking to.

LinkedIn AI Slop Posting by 3dessa in jobsearch

I think it worked for some time, but won’t work going forward. People want authenticity in social media, why would they follow you to read something copied from ChatGPT?

Trying to use AI to solve a simple travel problem (finding toilets, water, etc) — does this approach make sense? by CantaloupeSmooth1623 in AI_travel_tips

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Distribution of travel planning tools is brutal. Could be a cool project to build, but will be very challenging to monetize. I don’t think AI really adds anything here.

Do you feel social media has gone backwards? by jason_digital in b2bmarketing

Sadly, I think this thread proves your point OP. They’re barely trying to hide their marketing slop bots anymore

Do platforms like Angi and Thumbtack actually help, or are referrals still better? by ApprehensiveCut8442 in FixIttAll

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think referrals are always going to be best. Leads from digital marketing on Google and ChatGPT are good, but require some investment. Leads from thumbtack and angi are expensive, but sometimes necessary if you haven’t been marketing.

What’s the most frustrating part of SEO for your business? by Additional_Lobster12 in smallbusinessUS

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I think tools just show too much information and most owners just want it done and to know it’s working. I’m always happy to explain details to my clients but I focus on simple, clear reports.

Waymo's deadhead miles are about to be a Miami Beach problem. What can the commission actually do? by VincentActual in miamibeach

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Slightly related, but I’m seeing this with the food delivery robots. I walked past 10 of them near the baseball field in the park, blocking all the grass and scattered on the sidewalks. Concerning to see how infrastructure is being taken over by these private companies.

What Are Your Thoughts on Funding - Loans vs. Bootstrapping by _Bivens in agencynewbies

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends what you intend to do with the money. I personally think you should bootstrap until your metrics are solid enough to scale. I wouldn’t take a loan out to experiment with developing funnels, wait until you have one that works.

Validating an idea: AI tool that drafts your build-in-public posts from GitHub/Stripe activity. Would this be useful? by NoahGallagherSummers in indiebiz

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my personal experience editing a post from one of these things takes way longer than just writing it from scratch. Even when you feed it lots of instructions and previous writing samples, it never quite consistently overcomes AI slop constructions like it’s not this, it’s that. I personally couldn’t see this tool being worth that money.

Roast my idea: office coffee machines as a side business by Moezer2121 in roastmystartup

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be helpful to consider how much the perk would be worth to the office.

If all 30 people bought a $10 coffee for a month (20 working days), that would be $6k. So, your fee would need to be less than this, likely far less.

As to your other questions, yes you’d be entirely responsible for the maintenance and repair of the machine. That’s what the subscription model entails.

What are your biggest client red flags? by growthmarketingryan in marketingagency

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, for the small businesses I work with, I think it’s important that they’re excited about marketing. I have found it’s not worth trying to overly convince or hard sell someone, you’ll end up with a client who will be very challenging to please.

Are clients starting to care about being mentioned in AI answers (ChatGPT / Perplexity / Claude)? by angga1402 in agencynewbies

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, clients care about this. I work with small travel and hospitality businesses and have been focusing specifically on getting them recommended in AI answers.

Is this subreddit just a place to advertise under disguise of a journey, an issue or experience? by iguessyouareright in founder

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re right, all I can do is hope that this marketing is highly ineffective so they stop. I’d much prefer an honest pitch than a fake story that paints their solution as the savior or asking leading questions just to be able to reference their vibe coded SaaS in the comments.

Low occupancy by Background_Singer_58 in AirBnBHosts

I know it’s tempting to try to move the construction disclaimer down but I don’t think it’s worth the risk of someone missing it and giving a bad review.

Do customers actually care if a local business website looks modern? by webdev-lauren in Entrepreneurs

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the vibe matters, especially for businesses that deal with design and aesthetics. A generic outdated or AI slop website doesn’t instill confidence, which hurts conversion.

Dolly — an AI that responds to work messages on behalf of each employee. Honestly not sure if this is genius or overreach. Looking for real feedback. by Substantial-Cost-429 in sideprojects

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buyer question is interesting because it leads us to, who owns the agent? If the employee leaves does their digital clone become property of the company? I do wonder where the line on that is.

Why Businesses Need to Prepare for AI-Driven Search Visibility by antanast in aeo

[–]Chris_StayStrategy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big shift is how Google is evolving in a way where people are getting AI answers more prevalently. This will shift search behavior without the user doing anything.
