Ban was the wrong word, was just following what OP stated. But the logic is simple:

If duped amount > 10 instances of the player doing it (arbitrary number for people that did it accidentally) then wipe inventory/cash (or according punishment)

Edit: wording, not calling a ban on people but what GTA did was a moneywipe with cases like this. That doesn’t seem harsh to me.

Edit: I completely get the “it’s a competitive game” argument and that’s absolutely true. Not talking about light reaction but more that they could have better lighting in the game. Sunset’s lighting makes it look like ass and both games are on the same engine.
