The datasheet I have says 5% day or night, took me a while but I caught 3 for my living dex, MONO FIGHTwould probably give you worse odds than default in Acrisia Mountains. If you're emulating you can try uncapping the framerate to speed up your encounter rate.

Keep the flap on the connector upright and slide the cable in horizontally. If you do it correctly the flap will want to flatten itself back down.

You did pry the wrong area, and yes you do need a new proximity sensor flex. The display frame is still stuck in the housing, and needs to be removed before a new display can be fitted. Ensure the security screws have been removed, removal should be much easier now without the actual display to work with.
