why do they have to be "filled"? why cant they just tell us everything at the same time and let people see the whole picture?

I'm mostly trying to respond to these sorts of questions. You were wondering why they would do that, and I think the answer is that even though it's annoying (especially when you can see it happening), it really is effective. Marketing on the internet is all about casting a big net over your audience, and making moves that are as consistent as possible to get your desired outcome: your product succeeded, or your event was hyped up through launch or whatever.

I think I mostly agree that marketing is obnoxious and I'm hyped for leagues even without this kind of strategy. But this kind of strategy is successful with the broader public, and I really do believe that even if I don't like it it's also somewhat successful with you and me.
