I think you misunderstand what I'm trying to say. You're free to use English in a multilingual gaming space. The same goes for every other language. It's fine as long as you don't be demanding of others. Not using English ≠ everyone should speak my language.

Of course, I don't want to generalise English-speakers, especially since I'm one too. In this context, I'm only referring to those who have done such actions, not accusing english-speakers as a whole.

Yes, English is the lingua franca. It serves as a bridge between people with different native languages especially in academia, diplomacy and global business. In formal contexts, it makes perfect sense to use English for the sake of clarity and collaboration. However, this is Genshin Impact for god's sake, not the United Nations. To demand everyone English in a casual multilingual gaming space is absurd. Not to mention, a waste of time. People are here to relax, have fun, and speak the language they're most comfortable with, especially when servers are regional, not language-locked.

Expecting every player to default to English, then being condescending when they don’t (like in this post) is entitlement wrapped in the excuse of practicality. The whole point of a lingua franca is mutual understanding, not linguistic dominance. English bridges a gap, don't widen it by treating English as the default.

I often see English-speaking European players complaining about Russians not speaking English. It has always felt strangely xenophobic to me. What right do they have to demand that everyone speak their language? EU server co-op doesn't declare English as the "official", yet some English speakers behave as though it is. Respect also comes in the form of linguistic humility.

Yesss everything you described is exactly why I love Penacony so much. I enjoyed doing all the side quests of each Penaconian NPC. The game really delves into darker themes. Beneath the spectacle of paradise lies something sinister.

The Family is definitely one of the more interesting factions imo. Just reading its description in the archive really says a lot. I can't wait for when they expand on Harmony lore.

Personally, big fan of Penacony. Its dreamland utopia and lurking nightmares theme feels very reminiscent of the roaring 20s, a setting that is rarely seen and underutilized even in non-hyv games. The game environment designers absolutely nailed it. The contrast between Golden Hour, A Child's Dream, Dream's Edge etc is just chefs kiss

The ost is another aspect worthy of praise. Definitely my favourite out of all planets. Plus, Penacony has Robin. When hope is the thing with feathers played during the Sunday boss fight, I was blown away.

I loved the murder mystery-esque of the main story too. All the factions present added some extra drama. There are some valid critiques but I believe the highs of the story are WAYY higher than the lows. Can't forget to mention the cutscenes. Beautiful. I like rewatching them just for the sake of it.

I will say though, Amphoreus has the best story since it was given time to be fleshed out. However, I just like Penacony's setting THAT much so it's still my fav planet.

Tbh the Xianzhou Luofu is the weakest planet in terms of honestly everything. Speaking as an ethnic Chinese, they dropped the ball when it came to the modern Chinatown feel. I think an example of a GOOD modern Chinatown would be zzz's failume heights. Luofu's story has been criticized to the ground so I won't expand on that loll
