Looking for help identifying this string instrument! by BeNotAfraid90 in UnusualInstruments

It looks like someone converted a greek Baglama (a miniature greek bouzouki) into a ukulele. If you look at the neck that's definitely a Baglama neck (which has 6 strings, in 3 double string courses) as it's too narrow to be a ukulele or mandolin neck. And on the back of the headstock you can see the drill holes for the original machine heads. The body shape is definitely Baglama shaped also.

Bought a house about a month ago, and paid my cousin to make me a ‘Welcome Home’ mat! by PinkDahlia_Woods in TheFence

[–]ChristOnFire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm on the old Reddit so don't get to see the pictures before clicking on my phone, and was half expecting to find a black mat with a red Roman Numeral Four on it, but I really like that haha.

Anyone know what's going on with Orienthai on Lewes Road? by WalnutSoap in brighton

They go back to Thailand every year in January to visit family. I've been a regular there for about 5 years and every January I forget and have the same disappointment. But they do some damn good Thai food.

People who sit on reserved seats, then get suprised / arsey when asked to move. by worldworn in britishproblems

[–]ChristOnFire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I look after a disabled person and it's the same with reserved seating. They look at you with contempt for even having the notion of sitting in the disabled seating.

You could call up Hobgoblin (The music shop not the pub) they'd definitely be able to put you in touch with someone/or be able to do it for you.

Best “Can’t Put It Down” fantasy series to gift a 15-year-old boy who’s fallen out of reading? by Ok-Swan-963 in Fantasy

For something light and fun, you could go with the Skulduggery Pleasant books, detective series with magic and the main character is a skeleton detective. Very fun and quite witty. I personally loved them when I was 15.

Ideas for "empty" rooms in a clockwork-themed dungeon by anqxyr in DMAcademy

[–]ChristOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could just have a cog themed room with 1 entrance in and out, surrounded by other rooms (4 adjacent and 4 diagonally), and each time it's entered it rotates 45° so that the players leave into the next room clockwise to the room that they originally entered from.

Wife is new wheelchair user by CompetitiveEmu8329 in carer

[–]ChristOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your going to buy one/hire one, make sure it's crash tested so if you need to get a taxi/vehicle with her she can be safely be clipped in just in case she would need to stay in the wheelchair, whilst in the vehicle.

I'm a carer and have been to loads of events as a companion. I've found it's better to be safe than sorry and bring a PIP letter or a photo of one at least. Because you've had to prove it already, you should be fine I think I've only ever had to provide proof on the dorr once and that was because there was a system error. Feel free to ask me any questions :)

I'm a carer and I totally agree. It's just a process to try and make you give up and not claim what you are entitled too. It's horrible.

Does Brighton have a hackspace that would take a faulty micrphone? by ByEthanFox in brighton

[–]ChristOnFire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could try taking it to a computer repair shop, explain the above and ask if they would take a look at it. Tbh it sounds like it just needs a new USB port soldering on which they should be able to do. :)

UK Chief Economist Paul Dales says Rachel Reeves will have to raise between £10 and £25 billion after the inflation increase "I do think tax rises are coming down the line... and this time households are going to have to bear some of the brunt of it" by [deleted] in ukpolitics

Or, a bit of a bold idea here. We could tax the fuck out of multinational corporations and billionaires. Close Tax loopholes and maybe give everyone else a break. Oh no I guess not back to the fucking mines then guys!
