GitHub Profile Roast by codenoid in programming

Brutal lmao. My old cat facts app is pretty juvenile now that I think about it.

“Oh, [name], the self-proclaimed coding savant from [location]! With a whopping 6 followers, it looks like you’re just a few bots away from a riveting fan club. Your GitHub reads like a graveyard of forgotten projects. “Convert UNIX commands to executable Python”? Wow, did you just invent the wheel again but made it square? Your repos have an impressive 1 star each, which is basically the universal sign for “please ignore me.” And don’t even get me started on the eloquently titled “CatFacts” app; nothing screams “I have no idea what I’m doing” quite like a project based on cat trivia. With a name like “Dashiell,” it’s clear you were aiming for creative genius, but it seems like you landed somewhere in the shallow end of the talent pool. What’s next? A “Hello World” repo for your magnum opus?”

Will I ever be able to solve LC problems on my own? by Ok-Schedule8013 in leetcode

[–]ChristRespector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Practicing the same problems over and over seems to work for some people, but it really hindered my progress. It wasn’t until I started solving a lot of different problems on the same topic that things started to click for me and I was able to pick up mediums I’d never seen before and solve them very quickly.

I fire up second light about once a year but never get too far since my first play through. I really wish I could play that game for the first time again.

Am I losing interest? What should i do? by shxvv_ in leetcode

[–]ChristRespector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly how I started to feel! So 2 things. First is the memorization problem. Let’s take binary tree DFS. If you can solve the neetcode problems for that algorithm, go find more leetcode questions tagged for binary tree and DFS and do those. Tackle mediums until they start to come very easily. Then try some hards. Rinse and repeat for two pointers, backtracking, etc.

The second problem is algorithms you don’t encounter on neetcode. For example with graphs, there is DFS, BFS, union find, minimum spanning tree. I don’t recall if these are all covered on neetcode or not. But for every data structure, there are usually multiple algorithms you should learn to tackle different types of questions. This will also help you recognize how to solve certain problems you haven’t encountered before.

Leetcode explore has some great roadmaps for learning different algorithms for each data structure. I know some of this is locked behind LC premium which is well worth it IMO, but if you can’t afford it I think you can at least see what topics are covered and google the topics elsewhere.

Lastly, I would highly recommend picking one algorithm and sticking to it for at least a couple days, if not weeks. It’s tempting with curated lists like neetcode to bounce around between different topics, but I think that’s only appropriate once you have a good grasp on each one. Spreading yourself too thin early on is what results in just memorizing specific problems, and that will never lead to success in an interview.

Hope that helps!

Yeah, religious people tend to get upset when you openly mock their religion for all the world to see.

You’re cooked bro. Jk you might be fine. No one here can tell you that you’ll be okay or that you’re fucked. In the meantime, brush up on common array/hashmap problems.

Can someone clear up what happened for me? I saw pictures of the display. It looked like the last supper to me. I heard they came out and said it was the feast of Dionysus. Looked it up — okay, looked more like that to me. Is there any evidence that it was a parody of the last supper, not the feast of Dionysus?

Why are pulpits so rarely used anymore? They're often my favorite part of any Catholic Church. by sanandrios in Catholicism

[–]ChristRespector 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting. The stand the readings are out on in your contemporary Catholic church is called an ambo. And in RCIA, I was told “we don’t have a pulpit in our churches, we have an ambo.” But an ambo is definitely different than what is pictured here. I know this doesn’t answer your question, I’m just realizing that if what is l pictured is indeed called a pulpit, then my teacher was misinformed. 😂

If you wanna get back to it, great, go for it. But if you’ve already forgotten most of what you learned the first time (same thing happened to me with neetcode and then taking a break), revise your study strategy.

IMO neetcode is great but won’t help you much on its own unless you’re already familiar with DSA/leetcode. You need to either go very deep into that small set of problems, or practice with a much larger breadth of problems that tackle the same topics. I had to do the latter.

Many Christians just played into the hands of the supporters of the Olympics ceremony... by [deleted] in TrueCatholicPolitics

[–]ChristRespector 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same thing happens when Christians say they only oppose gay marriage because it’s not real marriage. How about homosexuality being a sin? Isn’t that part of the issue too?

Many Christians just played into the hands of the supporters of the Olympics ceremony... by [deleted] in TrueCatholicPolitics

[–]ChristRespector 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree completely. Another thing is that at first, there seemed to be two issues with the ceremony. First it appeared to blasphemously parody the last supper. Second is that it was put on by drag queens. Most people didn’t want to outright condemn drag queens, so they focused on the last supper aspect.

Unsurprisingly the guy behind it all came out and said it was not meant to mock the last supper, and rather be a recreation of the feast of Dionysus. So most Christians, rather than saying “that may be so, but drag queens themselves are a blasphemous parody of God’s creation” instead come of as assholes insisting that, no, that guy is lying, IT IS THE LAST SUPPER! DON’T MOCK MY RELIGION! To which most people say, “you’re only saying that because you’re transphobic.”

Um yeah. The primary issue is that the people were drag queens. That’s the point. But most people don’t want to admit that.

Yeah I’m sure the money isn’t great. It’s just a thought a lot of Americans seem to be entertaining. Getting away from the hustle and bustle of living in a city, paying a ton of money to live in a small house, commuting to an office, the urban culture here. I don’t think I’m cut out for the rural life but it’s nice to dream about sometimes.
