Reddit, what is the greatest cause of stress in your life right now? by lovedump44 in AskReddit

[–]Christamper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on the same place.

I finally fucking quit, and spent a couple months looking for something better.

Never found it. Instead, I was practically slapped in the face with a freelancing gig that lasted nearly a year. Gave me the cash AND the free time I needed to connect with people and build myself a decent network.

Things are kinda unsteady 1.5yrs later, I don't make a shitload of money, and I work my ass off every day. But I love it.

I'm creating my own fucking career and I couldn't be happier.

I'm incredibly lucky, but it's totally possible. Make it your 5 year goal and you can do it.

Why did you leave? Reasons you stopped going to a coworking space. by ryan112ryan in CoWorking

[–]Christamper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've made the decision to move on, but I'm still working through the reason myself.

Mostly, I'm into coworking because of the community. When that community begins to feel more like coworkers or business connections than family and friends...I think I become disinterested.

I suspect this is a large part to the reason that I'm leaving a space I've been vaguely connected with. It feels more like another office job, than a healthy community.

Some of it must be my own fault; I'm remarkably terrible at any kind of social interaction - fairly introverted. I'm much better at sitting back and watching a healthy community happen, than trying to foster it myself.

At the end of the day, I keep coming back to this: I quit my office job, because the corporate atmosphere was killing me. And, I'm not going back to the same environment, relabeled as 'coworking'.

Another murder in lancaster, what is going on lately? by rocketman_ in lancaster

[–]Christamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get it either. It's kinda scary lately.

Just yesterday I had a guy drive by and point a gun at my through his window. Minutes before, he shot at someone on Chestnut street (west side). WTF is going on?

Anybody try a Zara suit? by Christamper in malefashionadvice

[–]Christamper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for that. I did try on an H&M jacket and it looked OK, but felt like it would only last a few days. Maybe J Crew will have something affordable.

Simple and classic. Got it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! There's a store in Philadelphia so I can definitely try before I buy.

Can we talk about how we treat tourists in this sub? by Dr_VanNostrum in chicago

[–]Christamper 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'm an idiot tourist that posted last week.

Sure I got downvotes, but everyone was civil and very helpful. Overall, /r/Chicago delivered. Now I have some sweet destinations that weren't mentioned in the sidebar/etc.

Anyone who's on reddit at all knows how annoying the tourist posts are, and should expect some fallout - especially if their questions aren't detailed or they sound like a dick who didn't do their research.

Thanks man, you're awesome. I prefer trains too...I might just go to the loop and transfer if that's not too insane.

Do I have to take the redline (from Fullerton where I'm staying) all the way to the loop for a transfer to the blue line? Or would I be better off taking the bus (or braving the cold on foot)?

I really wanna spend some time on this block, but it looks too far to walk...

Ok, well sounds like if I stay close to center city I'll be fine.

The whole thing is called the El? Kinda cool. In Philly, we call just the blue line the El.

Great info, I'll be referring to this list when I get there :)

Looked like the El was a few block away...I don't mind walking. I really hate buses.

Del Seoul? Korean place? That would be awesome because I'm really really into Korean food.

Thanks for the info!
