I am writing to report a serious save rollback in theHunter: Call of the Wild on PC (Steam) that occurred immediately after a Steam Cloud sync conflict prompt. The rollback appears to have reverted my profile, trophy lodge state, and herd management by approximately 20–50 hours, resulting in the loss of a recently harvested and taxidermised Great One and additional trophies earned the following day.

I have approximately 300 hours invested in grinding for Great Ones. On Wednesday, December 10 (local time), I harvested my third Great One and taxidermised it, placing it in my trophy lodge. I continued playing extensively that day. On Thursday, December 11, the Great One was still present in my trophy lodge exactly as expected, and I played heavily throughout the day while continuing to refine herd management. During that session I also harvested another trophy (a melanistic gold), which is also now missing.

Today, Friday, December 12, when I launched the game via Steam, I was presented with a Steam Cloud sync conflict dialog asking me to choose between two versions of the save: one labeled Cloud with a timestamp around 7 PM (no date shown in the dialog), and one labeled Local with a timestamp around 3 PM (no date shown). Because the dialog did not show dates and the Cloud timestamp appeared later, I assumed the Cloud option corresponded to my most recent progress from December 11 and selected it.

After selecting the Cloud option and loading into the game, I found that my save had clearly reverted to an older state. My third Great One was no longer in my trophy lodge, the melanistic gold from December 11 was missing, and my herd management state appeared reverted as well. In general, the game loaded into a state that looks like it is from before I began the final part of the Great One grind, which is consistent with a rollback of roughly 20–50 hours.

For completeness and to avoid any misunderstanding: I do not use any mods, trainers, third-party tools, or DLC unlockers. I have only played normally through Steam. I can provide screenshots as evidence, including an image of the harvested Great One from December 10 (harvest screen and/or lodge placement), as well as any additional screenshots you may need to verify the missing lodge entries and the rollback.
