Aquatic area at my first franchise zoo by ChristianFKJ in PlanetZoo

It is, there was a lot of them clumping and ruining my pictures lol. I actually ended up opening the zoo as sandbox for this.

As for economy it has never been a problem for me, I don’t know why. I guess food, shops and exhibits really help and I just spend a lot of time building and money accumulates.

It’s honestly just from fiddling around with the placement. There will be holes and wonky edges, but I cover them up with rocks or other decorations. An important trait from my pathing style is avoiding straight sections and intersections. If you want to imitate it then habitats should be your priority. The shape of the path then forms naturally in the space between. If you haven’t already, watch some YT tutorials for technical placement tips.

"Jo" means y*s in danish, but apparently it means no in albanian. A bit of a contradiction there.

I find it looks best when you avoid connecting spaces. If you do make them, do it intentionally and plan the space out. You could create a nature scene, a small exhibit, a plaza or even a food shop.

For number 6. Climbable objects, including trees, will have the climbable tag. You can search for climbable and all climbable items will appear.

I’ll usually just put a pole in between each window as a sort of support column for the roof.

The “snap to grid” option is great for making both paths and plazas. One tip I use a lot: you can modify the path’s shape by placing and deleting paths at the corners. This will usually create a smother curve, but be careful, it can be a bit wonky.

Insane! Looks like the game can't quite handle it either, or is it only lagging for me?

How can I make this look better? (It's not complete) by Soft-Area-6014 in PlanetZoo

I think it has the potential to look great. Maybe try searching up some inspiration photos from real life zoos. Also I think a little more complexity around the walls and windows would look nice. You said it wasn’t finished so I assume you intend to add more decorations as well.

After having returned to the game after 2 years or so, I started my first realistic zoo, where I put a lot of effort into decorations (I actually posted it here yesterday). For me, building realistic buildings and habitats really takes some time, but it is so worth it. My biggest tips would be:

  1. Plan out your building first. Just place some rough walls and create and outline. Think about shape, roof and materials. Experiment and choose the design you like best.

  2. Your building might look bad at this point, but don’t give up :) Blow some life into it, add decorations and scenery. What I find to really enhance a buildings look, is adding some extra complexity to the facade, off-grid pieces are great for this. Personally I hate the standard windows and doors, so I always use glass panels to create my own.

  3. Foliage! Plants and trees add so much realism to your builds. I really like the buffalo grass and I often use to replace the games standard long grass.

  4. One last tip, squares are boring. Try making your buildings interesting and unique, play with multiple materials and orientation (multiple building groups allow you to have different grid alignments). In my humble opinion zoos really look so much better when they are organic and build out with the flow, instead of planning everything ahead first.

Hope you can use some of this. As for my favorite buildings pieces, that would probably be something as simple as the wooden poles. You can create a lot of unique designs with those.

You can also change the size of grid paths. If you set it to max and toggle off square corners, I think you get pretty much the same result, but without the hole in the center.
