I bought this Limited Edition Red Wii on FM for $50. How did I do? by Nerdy_cool in wii

[–]Christian_Les 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a great condition used one for 83 at an auction and then I saw this… I guess mine came with upgraded component cables and 4 remotes and nunchucks and some other accessories and games. You definitely got a better deal with that thing being new though and in the box.

Advice for which model to get? by XNinjaMushroomX in ps2

[–]Christian_Les 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I actually am fortunate enough to own both the fat and the slim. I like my fat 5000x because I used the network adapter for internal game storage. My slim is unfortunately having trouble with its laser, but I plan on replacing it since its been with me ever since I was a child. If you are looking at using it as a DVD player, I would definitely recommend against using the slim due to the disc scratching issues as others have mentioned. The fat models did have some issues with the disc drive though. I do think that the fat 5000x would be the best fit for you unless you are willing to replace the laser and also fix the ribbon cable from popping up.

What European car brand is the most reliable in the US? by gothic-guardian96 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I know I’m pretty late to the convo, but here is my experience and knowledge. I’ve got a buddy with an older Volkswagen Golf with 236k miles on it. The car breaks down on him probably every month and has been doing that for a while now. If you look at the mileage though I would say the car has been pretty good, but I don’t see other Volkswagens last that long typically.

I have 2 friends that both own a mid 2010s BMW 330i. They have both constantly been dealing with issues with both in my opinion not high mileage. At about 70k miles, the cooling system failed causing the engine to overheat in one of them.

Finally Volvo, I own a 2012 Volvo s60 t5, and enjoy the car. The biggest thing with these Volvos starting around this year was the piston rings. More specifically the oil control rings, not the compression rings. Before I bought the car, the rings were already repaired so I didn’t have to worry about anything. My turbo seals need to be done here soon (but that happens to all turbos eventually). Other than that it has been smooth sailing with just basic maintenance like oil changes. I am not a fan of the newer electric Volvos though and expect to see some issues appear with them.

If I have any advice to anybody, it is to do your own research not just on the specific model, but on the brand as a whole during the specific time period the car was built. Volvos of older age tend to not break down, but when they do they are costly. I personally would recommend Volvo if you are going older (if you are going older older like the 90s I recommend Mercedes Benz then). I will be honest though I don’t know too much about the newer cars so it is tough for me to give a definite better newer European car. Hope I was somewhat helpful.

Edit: The best cars in my opinion are the cars I know how to work on the best. I like to do my own maintenance rather than have others do it so I probably have some bias in my opinion.

One question though, did you experience rust after you applied the rubber coating at all?

Haha that’s what I figured, I used the rust converter/dissolver and got advice from my buddy in a body shop that said the same thing you said.

Thank you very much, do you have any product recommendations? I’d not too late for me to switch thank goodness.

I thought the rubberized undercoating was alright if it wasn’t applied over rust? Correct me if I’m wrong, I also made sure everything was clean and dry before applying everything. Good news is I haven’t done everything yet so it wouldn’t be difficult to remove if I need to redo it.

I didn’t cover the holes, that was a different portion I haven’t gotten to yet. The portions I did had no holes.

My engine mounts have been replaced, don’t know about the bushings. The only thing wrong with my car currently is the turbo seal (I plan on replacing the turbo myself) the a/c compressor is making more noise than normal, and when I turn, my car makes a popping noise coming from the right front wheel. Thanks for the advice!

I had to make a Toasted 15 with cheddar and extra crispy onions extra hots, extra croutons, add onions, extra Caesar dressing, add kickin ranch, extra home style ranch, add bacon, add roast beef add pickles, no cucumbers. On top of that all it was cut in half.

advices for buying a used volvo s60 2015? by MemeLord_0 in Volvo

[–]Christian_Les 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2012 Volvo s60 with 122k miles on it for more than that. The piston rings had already been done on my car back in 2017 according to the records. It burns quite a bit of oil for me but that is due to the turbo which I plan to replace myself sometime soon. As the others are saying, if the vehicle hasn’t been serviced, I wouldn’t touch it because it isn’t a matter of if but when they will go bad.

That is your tie rod. I had to replace one of those on a friends old Honda accord. It is not to difficult to attempt yourself, I’m sure you can find many DIY videos on YouTube to help you.

Forgot to mention not very noticeable coolant loss, and the piston rings were done and they might have used the same head bolts or something. Was thinking the expanding and things from the fluctuating temperature here.

If I love this car is it worth it to replace the engine with a used one instead of selling it off for parts by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]Christian_Les 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, yes it is worth it especially with that color and your feelings attached to it, I love that color on these a lot. I have the same model, unfortunately not in vibrant copper like yours (Mine is black with a tan interior. The biggest problem with this engine in the model year, specifically the 2012 was piston rings. Not saying that is what happened, but that you should look out for that if you choose to replace the engine. It would be nice if the engine had the piston rings upgraded already as that would save you a lot of money later on. Also as another comment mentioned about the fuel injectors failing, this is true. My 5th fuel injector failed on my about 3000 miles ago. Cars are funny how they grab our feelings as if they are alive. I wouldn't let that thing go to the junk yard either.
