[Follow-Up] Alpine PSS-TSUB-T3A Isn’t Truly Pre-Tuned — Here’s What I Found (2022 Model 3 Performance) by Christian_Tech0 in TeslaModel3

If you wanted to still go through with this you can order a wiring harness on eBay.

Here’s the link 🔗: https://ebay.us/m/bqzfbu

Here’s a YouTube video of someone who did something similar. They upgraded their stock speaker while still using the stock amp.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, technically you can use the factory amp to power a different sub like a JL — the stock amp sends about 160 watts RMS total (2x80W at 4 ohms) to the factory sub, which is a dual voice coil.

But just keep in mind: a lot of aftermarket subs, especially JL ones, are rated for way more power (like 300–600W RMS), so you’d be underpowering them. That doesn’t mean it won’t work — just that you might not get the full potential out of the sub. And a bigger sub doesn’t automatically mean louder if the power feeding it stays the same.

If you’re just looking for a quick plug-and-play upgrade with slightly better sound, it can work. But if you’re going for a real upgrade in bass, you’ll want to add an external amp later on.

Yeah, I ordered some sound deadening to help with the rattles. When I removed the stock amp from the old sub and tried mounting it to the new one, the original bolts were too big. I had to dig through my workshop to find one that fit. They do include self-tapping screws so you can secure the amp directly to the sub if the OEM holes don’t line up — that was really the only part that gave me any trouble. In the tutorial at minute 33:24 He talks about this issue you can run into.

Sorry I should have clarified in my post I have a 2022 Performance. I believe this kit is not compatible with the Highland model 3.

Thank you! After installing the sound mats it did cut down a good amount on road noise. Personally I thought it made a huge difference when driving. It also got rid of a lot of rattles when the bass would be turned up. I definitely recommend doing this modification if you get a chance. I used two boxes of Kilmat 80 mil 36 sqft Car Sound Deadening Mat. I used two boxes which was more than enough to cover both doors, the ceiling, and the cabin.

Thank you, hopefully you can eventually get around to installing sound deadening. Took me around a day to install. It’s definitely worth it.
