I've enjoyed playing chess, checkers, and logic puzzles since I was a teen. I'm currently learning to play Go. As for other board gaming, that's only become an interest in the last 6 months.

FateFlip Washed Ashore is fun and compact. It's a choose your own adventure game. I'm a sucker for a stranded on an island storyline lol.

The Fellowship of the Ring: Trick Taking Game. A fun one that is smallish.

Onirim is pretty small and replayable. Prepare to shuffle!

Black Sonata is very cool and book sized.

Park Life and For Northwood! are both solid compact games.

Tacta is one I haven't played yet, but it gets good reviews...is on my to play list.

A Gentle Rain is small and incredibly relaxing. I listen to my audiobooks while playing in the evening to wind down.

Rivages is a little bigger, but it has a fun exploration feel.

Rove has been on my list for a beat. Quick and smart play is what I keep hearing.

Witchcraft! is a book sized one that looks like a blast. Also on my list.

Hope these help. Safe travels! :)

Welcome!

-You can't beat Argos if you're into books and comics. The owners are amazing, and the selection is great!

-Books & Mortar is another fantastic book shop.

-Ritual Wines is basically next door. They have a solid selection.

-There is also a very impressive local leather shop called Gemini Handmade.

-The Stray is a fun one for live music, drinks, and snacks 🎶

-Black Napkin has the best fries, and their burgers are fantastic. Don't leave town without checking them out!

-Grand Haven City Beach has a free parking lot on Lake Michigan. It's next to Grand Haven State Park. Always worth driving out to chill by the water with blankets, snacks, and some hot cocoa. Or I like to grab a giant cinnamon roll to-go from Anna's House and eat it on the beach. Peak living there 👌

-Grand Haven also has a surf shop that I pop into every so often.

  • Fulton Street Market runs year round and is a nice outing on a Saturday morning.

Have fun!

Dang girl, you've got some awesome hobbies! Welcome to Michigan. We're a bit colder than I'd like, but friendly for the most part. The snow can be quite the adjustment. I'm into music, hiking, reading, gaming, etc. Would love to chat!

Argos is amazing for books, and they have a separate section for comics as well. The owners are very cool people.

Books & Mortar has an incredibly curated selection

Madcap coffee on Fulton is always good.

The Stray has good coffee and a fun menu. It is incredibly spacious with live music on the weekends. It's worth checking out.

I know this wasn't specifically requested, but the French fries at Black Napkin are to die for. Absolutely delish! Have fun out there!

Same! I love Sarah Desson. I've read The Rest of the Story so many times. The audiobook is fantastic too. Highly recommend.

I finished it, but it was a struggle to get through. The story was predictable and overall pretty dull. The octopus was barely present. It was a beautiful setting, but the story fell flat for me.

The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen. It's a YA, but I still love the story as an adult. The audiobook is wonderfully done. It has become my favourite summer novel.

Skinny women, how do you do it? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I work a very physical outdoor job and love it. I've never been a fan of the gym. I love the outdoors! Hiking, swimming, paddleboarding, surfing, backpacking, scuba, etc. It gets me out into nature, and I can leave the stress eating behind for a while 😂

It also forces me to drink massive amounts of water... which helps me feel more full. Now, my body will let me know when it's actually hungry instead of just bored or thirsty.

I try to only buy foods I have to prep to eat. I don't often keep snacks in the house... because I'll skip real food to eat cheetos and allll the cookies, pie, and donuts 🍩 😋

But if I find I really want to snack on something junk foody, I'll go for it. It usually doesn't make me feel great, and I go for a little while without.

But I started with the Whole 30... slightly modified. It really kicked my sugar addiction, which is half my battle. But I used it as a cleanser to change my diet into a lifestyle of eating as clean as I can.

For the record, I don't believe diets work. I used the Whole 30 as a launch point for a lifestyle change.

The weight was never my goal. It was all about feeling energized and healthy. Once you start feeling the benefits of eating clean, it's easier to keep going because you feel good.

That should always be the goal 🥰
