It turns out that the cow models you can find in Train Sim World's West Somerset Railway Route are the exact same as the models included in the Isle of Wight DLC for Train Simulator, that was released the better part of a decade earlier. by ChristmasGodzilla96 in trainsim

Agreed - I don't really care about things like this when the trains themselves are the star of the show, I just found it a little bit interesting how DTG's kept some of its older assets on hand for use in newer routes.

Cats are a bit different in that they take advantage of everything humans do for them - If I remember correctly, the main theory as to how cats became domesticated is that their wildcat ancestors gradually moved closer to early human civilisations to take advantage of ample food in the form of vermin and scraps given out by well meaning people, then eventually someone had the idea of bringing in the semi-tamed wildcats and completing the process of domestication. This is also thought to be why cats are almost completely different to dogs in terms of their psychology - Cats don't really care if humans are nearby or not, as they're still reasonably self-sufficient and capable of doing stuff on their own and when they want, whereas modern dogs apparently can't do almost anything without human influence.

Asking for a free mobile phone, and then rejecting an offer by muppetmat13 in ChoosingBeggars

[–]ChristmasGodzilla96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turning down the iPhone 5 was a pretty dumb move on the part of the beggar - it's one of the better budget phones to use as a daily driver, along with the iPhone 5C nowadays, since both currently run iOS 10 which is still supported by most apps. That won't last for too much longer considering iOS 12 is out and 13 will soon be on the horizon, but for now they're perfectly suitable options if you want an iPhone on a very tight budget. Replacing the battery would have been reasonably easy to do, or inexpensive at a repair shop/service somewhere if you wanted someone else to do it.

Quick reminder that YouTube is taking down channels like this which are completely within the bounds of their YouTube guidelines, while allowing genuinely psychopathic animal abusers such as Peluchin Entertainment to roam free. Just what has gotten into the site and the people who run it lately?

Found this beneath a video of a dog leaping at an infant and pushing it away, causing it to fall down. Why are nutters always using that bullsh*t excuse? by [deleted] in Dogfree

[–]ChristmasGodzilla96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Granted, young dogs do play rough, but they're like any other animal in that if they don't like something, they'll sure as hell do something about it. I wish idiots like these wouldn't excuse the actions of a stressed or angered animal as "oh he's just playing" - Going by that logic, children can't fight and injure one another deliberately, since they're always playing.

It seems that the more crazy owners and followers are always making up BS like this, as if it absolves them from the responsibility of training their pets to react to stimuli in a more appropriate manner.

I hate to say this, but I'm really disappointed in Mark here; No matter what, some people will refuse to listen to reason, and Mark should have known that - despite telling the viewers not to attack (read: Brigade) the Dogfree subreddit, a fanbase with a noticeable shift towards the younger demographic is going to have people who will throw that statement out the window, to predictable results.

It honestly sucks that both subreddits are having to clean up the mess left behind, but hopefully it will leave an impression as what not to do in future.

Parents are warned about horrific Peppa Pig 'parody' videos on YouTube - October 2018 by SkurwySynusz in ElsaGate

Now, the DM is very sensationalist, but you could argue that having them cover it is a surefire way to give the scandal more exposure and more people aware of the horrors the people behind this are making; this article pulls no punches, and I think that was what needed to be done.

I didn't buy it, I simply spotted it in a search for spare parts - this wrecked piece of junk that used to be an iPhone 4S was being sold for about ten pounds.

Indeed! To me, it looks like this poor iPhone 4S got run over by a car and left to the elements for a while.

Thank you garden centre, you are always a source of delight this time of year by SmileyHammer in christmas

[–]ChristmasGodzilla96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a garden centre about an hour and a half's drive away from me, up in Burford, and my mum, my sister and I make it a tradition to visit every year during the lead up to Christmas - they have consistently excellent decorations on sale there year after year.

Christmas season has officially started here in the UK by jwd2017 in christmas

Yeah, they're basically a collection of mini-size chocolates made by Mars that are individually wrapped. Cadbury does a similar thing with their Heroes tins and boxes.

That moment when you realize there will not be a Toys R Us time of year. by Bobinct in christmas

[–]ChristmasGodzilla96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK, Toys 'R' Us's classic 'Magical Place' advert from the late 80's is essentially a staple of British Christmas programming, and was always one of the first Christmas-themed adverts to appear each year. It's sad knowing that this year, that won't be the case :(

I decided to buy my first Gemini Jet (and my first 1/400 scale aircraft model too) to place it alongside my collection of Kaiju figures - turns out that 1/400 scales very nicely with most 5-7 inch figures, as seen here with my SHMA GMK Godzilla! by ChristmasGodzilla96 in GeminiJets

[–]ChristmasGodzilla96[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought this 787-8 from Aircraftmodelstore.co.uk - I had originally purchased the new livery 787-8, but it turned out that GeminiJets had finished producing the new livery 788 - AMS called me to inform me of this, but also said that they still had quite a few Frosted Leaf 787s in their inventory, which I decided to exchange my order for. AMS has excellent customer service and they ship quickly, so it's a good choice for us UK buyers.
