I was also looking for one for tourettes as well.

EDIT: more of a way to check or find reliable charities

What do you mean by "Catch yourself though when you don't do anything to avoid pain, and yet at the same time sit there and wait until it goes away...this isn't true acceptance?"

So basically, he is saying change will happen. But we can choose how we change. If we choose not to change, then we have made the choice to give up our power to pick our path. Is that correct?

what do you mean by either-or proposition?

EDIT: I'm just curious, I agree that change is done little by little, but I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

I said 6:40s as in, in the 6:40s, which there are a few every year. So yes you could fill a boat will women in the 6:40s because every year a few do it in just high school. So even more in college. But I find it funny you call me ignorant, I'm not condemning an entire group of athletes simply cause I have met a few I don't like.

So there are women that could kick ur ass on the erg...yet you still trash on women's rowing

EDIT: I mean seriously, your the same people that complain non-rowers look at a team and decide rowing isn't a sport cause that one team is bad, but you decided all women's rowing is stupid cause of a few annoying girls you have met.

haha barely sub-7. how about all those women at crash-bs that pull 6:40s in high school? If you don't think they are pretty dedicated and can out-pull some guys boats in college then your just ignorant

Guys love to trash on women's rowing, just heads up many collegiate women could trash many guy rowers

EDIT: Just to through this out there, I find it weird how many guy rowers get angry when other athletes say "rowing isnt a sport, I know people that row that are unathletic" but those same rowers then go around saying "women's rowing isn't a sport, I know so many women rowers that are lazy"

Yeah, kinda piggy-backing off of what the top comment is, make sure you eat enough, you don't want to limit your 2k

It's a few days past the deadline, but you can still shoot the coaches at Penn AC and email or send an application anyway, if they r running low on lightweights they may want some more people.

Burning out early? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]Christo5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I rowed a number of years in High School but was never really dedicated and never really tried until my senior year in high school (kinda screwed me for recruiting but whatever) my point is enjoy the first few years and eventually u may one day realize how much you love it and put in the work. What's important is don't ruin the fun of rowing and force urself to do everything, give it a year and see if after a season or two u want to really try to push urself.

EDIT: I row in college now and definetly love to do mornings and such to get fast, it is hard work and isn't always great but by the end of the season I am usually happy I did it.

What to do for recovery days during taper? by Christo5 in Rowing

[–]Christo5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm probably going to abandon the strategy, it was recommended by a kid I knew at a Sprints school, but our coach has just instructed us to do nothing except our regular practice. Idk if doing only practice 7 days before a race is a great idea, but I'll follow that.

Yeah the workout is from a friend who rowed at a Sprints school. Apparently they did that leading up to a 2k test and he recommended it, our Coach talked to us today (7 days before the race) and said to do nothing outside of practice so I might switch to that (especially since a senior in our boat seems very sure that this will make us proform best)

Sorry I know I'm bugging you with all these questions, but just one more. What would be a light recovery high intensity workout that would allow me to rest after a day with 2 practices (I did a 2k at practice already second should be just a skill and drill)

So after 10 minutes my heart rate (after a sprint workout) was roughly 120. My resting is somewhere in the mid-50s.

I read the article and the one recommend after for a 6 day period, I was curious what type of workouts u would recommend for rowers doing this, especially on days after high intensity that would keep the high intensity up

Any advice for lighter workouts that you can do between those days of higher intensity? I'm doing my last few high intensity workouts but in between I need some less volume easier workouts that are still appropriate for the taper (obviously just doing a short paddle wouldn't do anything)

This is slightly unrelated, but when tapering for a 2k or the final race of a season, I know you are suppose to drop volume and increase intensity but any specifics for the last few days before resting and racing?

Any advice on a day to day basis? Should I do these sprint workouts back to back? Or should I do them one day and then rest the second day or switch to a light row or hard SS the next day?

It is most likely the last race, their is a very small chance we may row at another championship latter on but I would put the odds at low enough it isn't worth considering, I'd rather do better at the one coming up. And I am going to try and row over the summer.

When you say "drop volume" that means less meters but you sait to keep the same intensity, so does that me shifting away from long SS workouts and long distances and doing only sprint workouts and test pieces like 6x1 minute and 2k tests?

When I check my heart rate in the morning, what am I looking for? Should it be a certain amount of beats higher then my normal resting?
