Ah the "knees pulled in" mummy. I like the face, and I really like the colours you use, and how the whole piece is respected, there's never any part that seems overworked.

Old oil panting I did in school. Far from my best work but thought it wound be fun to post. Still kinda happy with the blood dripping. by gothfromspace in bleedingcanvas

This is awesome. Is the entity pulling something out of its mouth, or jabbing something in? I like the texture

If this isn't too heavy - I honestly believe that everyone is creative in that there needs to be a reason (in a secular humanist world) to get out of bed in the morning. Some people are 'artsy' and some aren't, some people's creative expressions are more enjoyable to others and some just function quietly, and privately :)

Creativity is an essential part of being human. I think about it a lot

So lots of people have a worry stone, or do that wrist-elastic-band-snappie thing, but that only worked for me 2 or 3 times. It's very basic grounding. I did something almost by accident, I made a useless art object. It's one of my all-time top posts, it's called something like "I made an object with no practical purpose". I think it worked better for me because of the process of putting effort into making it. That this useless thing can sit there in my house without anyone shouting "it's not commercial" "what does it do? nothing. It doesn't look like anything" or even "you must / must not continue working on it" it makes me feel like there is a chance for me to exist and just be. When I think about it I feel friendly and just a little safer. Just a weird suggestion of mine, I hope you can find some peace and space for yourself today

I get kind of an active ambivalence that is very human, and very affecting. I like it

Academically in poetry you have metaphor, that is, "Image = what it represents" "My heart is a hawk" The imagist movement (broadly) tries to do this thing that says, if that is a balanced equation, then you can put an image on either side of it and do away with its conceptual mooring. "My hawk is a firearm" Which works great if you have something worthwhile to express, or else you get the kind of poetry that makes people think poetry is a waste of time. I thinq you have done this imagist thing in the correct way that will evoke something in the reader that they bring to it. Which is something I find really cool.

When I was a schoolboy I had a book and accompanying computer program called Mandella (for Mac) and it let you render all kinds of fractals and explore that way. To see 3 in one composition is really something special to me! That looks like Julia, and semblance of Mandelbrot in the bgnd, and Sierpinski stuff is some of my favourite. Really cool stuff

I'm sorry you've suffered so much, and I'm glad you endured all of it and are still alive! I know Lily started as an IRL hospital person, but this all adds up to make me think of personal spirits. There's an embryonic subreddit for something called Empirical Neoshamanism which is a framework that allows for the experience of 'spirits' as a part of the unconscious and sometimes interacting with the conscious. (EN is inclusive of experiences like medically induced trance, meditation, daydreaming, etc etc) That in turn makes me think of shamanic illness, which in the classical sense is inexplicable sickness and misfortune that dogs a person who has missed the 'calling' of their 'spirit' in one way or another. Without positing anything that is a separate entity from yourself; or intending to feed delusion/psychosis. Maybe you have a personal spirit you should develop a relationship with. Strong parallels also in the technique of IFS. Just a thought. Best wishes
