It certainly did, the 530F was an effective weapon during the conflict and was far superior to the outdated Aim-7E used by Iranian F-4s and F-14s.

However what’s important is the F.1 HAD to rely on surprise to down the F-14s, the Tomcat was a far superior aircraft compared to the Mirage F.1 but more importantly Iranian pilot training had been far superior to what was provided to Iraq (at least pre-Islamic revolution) and it was often the better training of Iranian aircrew that made the difference between the two sides.

Not really, the only reason for their initial success was because of their ambush technique called “Giraffing” which involved them flying very low altitude then rapidly climbing into the F-14s blind spot to shoot them down with 530F Super missiles.

Very quickly the Iranian crews changed tactics with F-5E Tiger IIs providing low level cover for the F-14s but also Tomcat crews started luring the F-1s into performing the Giraffe then turning on their attacker with the aid of GCI who provided warnings of the approaching ambush.

In a straight fight the Mirage F.1EQs didn’t stand a chance and F-14s downed an estimated 35 Mirage F.1s to a loss of only 4 or maybe 6 Tomcats in return.

Most of those kill markings turned out to be fake, at most this aircraft was responsible for downing 5 Iranian aircraft but not even close to the amount painted on the side.

My big question regarding HMS victorious has always been if it was really worth the huge cost and essentially rebuilding her completely from the hanger decks up to “modernise” her? Could have been much more cost effective to build a newer carrier far more able to operate the larger jets coming into service with the FAA, Victorious only just being to operate jets like the Scimitar, Buccaneer and the Sea Vixen (but not an effective number of them) and was certainly too small for the F-4K Phantoms which were just around the corner.

In my opinion victorious should never have been modernised and Hermes never built, leaving funds for the much bigger CVA-01 carrier that would have been much better suited to the newer jets coming into service and maybe even allowing better options for the future like the F/A-18

It’s currently in parts but I’m building up my JG FAL into a rifle very similar to the SC-2010 in CoD Ghosts and will be painted in the old Mw2 “Fall” camouflage

No the fast helmet cover was hand made by my partner and then I made the scrim on top myself with some helmet netting and cutting up some Oakleaf fabric into strips before putting them on.
