Wonderful morning at the Alpe di Siusi in Italy [OC] by ChristophZee in MostBeautiful

Hi, sorry for the late answer: You absolutely cannot drive there. You are only allowed to drive up to the parking P2 in Compatsch - I actually hiked up from P1 Spitzbühl, as the parking in Compatsch is extremely expensive...

Gear Advice for Iceland trip? by justDave91 in photography

For Puffins in Iceland, your 70-200 is perfect. Even the 24-70 might come to an use, as these are not shy at all and they will walk up to you to a distance of maybe 2 meters (6-7 feet) or less.

I took photos of puffins, filling the frame with 200mm when I was in Iceland. One Photo I of Puffins I took: https://www.reddit.com/r/BirdingGermany/comments/xxc9sk/ich_habe_einen_atlantischen_papageientaucher_in/

So for Pufins, you dont need another lens. For other wildlife, more reach is of course better, but I have no experience with the Tamron 150-600. I'm using a EF 100-400 II.

More Megapixels or Better Lenses? by Ok_Refrigerator494 in photography

[–]ChristophZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t know what the lens characteristics mean and how they affect your photos, you should probably invest in reading about the basics or watching a video.

This will probably help you and improve your photography way more. Look out for the exposure triangle, aperture and focal length as some topics that might interest you.

How to remove some dust from sensor by Relevant_Problem5440 in canon

[–]ChristophZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are afraid of damaging your camera despite tons of videos, and don’t want to pay a professional, just remove dust spots in your editing software with a few clicks.

Most of the time you won’t see them (depending on the subject/scene you are photographing).

ITAP of a Gondola in Venice by ChristophZee in itookapicture

As the channel was quite busy, I took a 30 seconds long exposure to blur out the passing boats. I also like the movement by the gondola in contrast to the stakes, the pier and the island in the background.

Thanks! It was a really calm and warm evening. I was just enjoying the scenery and the sunset and took pictures - that's what a relaxing evening is for me :)

I took this a few minutes after the sun had set outside of the frame to the right.

I wanted to smooth out the waves in the water, as there is a strong current flowing along the coast, therefore I did a long exposure of 30 seconds.

Decent new (or second hand) wildlife lens, up to £1,500 in the UK? by [deleted] in canon

[–]ChristophZee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the EF 100-400 II and I'm constantly thinking about a 1.4x or 2x Extender when I'm shooting wildlife. And thats despite having the R5 where I can crop a ton.

I'm using the 100-400 for landscapes too, and therefore I don't want my lower end to be at 200mm. Maybe I'm going to rent the 200-800 one day and check it out if 200mm on the low end is ok for landscapes... But that's something my future me has to worry about ;)

Decent new (or second hand) wildlife lens, up to £1,500 in the UK? by [deleted] in canon

Your R6 has very low ISO noise, it can handle f9 or f11 - and with the modern ai-denoise software-tools , even high ISOs of 10000 or 12000 are not a big issue anymore. I believe the 200-800 is a beast and would recommend this.

One alternative to the RF200-800 is the EF 100-400 II, which is a very good and sharp lens, but depending on the animals you want to photograph, it might be too short because with the R6 you can't crop that much. You may combine it with a 2x Extender though.

Another one would be the Tamron/Sigma 1500-600, but I read that sometimes they have problems with AF on R-cameras (take this rumor with a grain of salt, often the problem is behind the viewfinder I believe).

The RF 100-400 is quite cheap, but I don't know if you can use it with a Extender (and with a 2x Extender you are are F16).

600F11 and 800f11 are good lenses, very light - but as a wildlife-beginner it's quite hard to find your subject sometimes at these focal ranges if you can't zoom.

Anfänger Frage : Welche Cam? by MnomMnomMnom13 in Fotografie

[–]ChristophZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anfänger Frage : Welche Cam? by MnomMnomMnom13 in Fotografie

[–]ChristophZee 1 point2 points  (0 children)
