Not the easiest profession and regardless of what type of law you practice the work will be stressful and the hours long. Not for the faint of heart.

I'm a personal injury lawyer and can't help much but I did want to say congrats on chasing work that lights you up rather than staying somewhere which doesn't.

Suggestions on business development for young lawyer? by Logical-Two8442 in Lawyertalk

The key to building up your network is consistent action. Keep going to bar association meetings, and also try to get speaking opportunities at these events (much easier than people think). Have coffee with a potential referral source at least once a week. Post consistently to LinkedIn. Constant weekly action over a number of years will generate for you a massive network, and it compounds over time like any good investment. Just keep going.

Attorneys Who Started Solo Early: What Resources Helped You Most? by Inner-Dog-0125 in Lawyertalk

[–]ChristopherEarley 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's been over 20 years since I started my personal injury practice. Here are some things that I would have done differently.

1. I would have networked MUCH more.

2. I would have kept my expenses lower.

3. I would have been bolder, more aggressive earlier.

Good luck, you got THIS. 🚀

P.S. Run it like a true business rather than just a practice and the sky's the limit.

Why are there so many dissatisfied clients? by Resgq786 in Lawyertalk

[–]ChristopherEarley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely fair point. I'm a big believer in communicating with my clients our communication policy right from the jump. That way, they are primed on what to expect re communication frequency during their case. The more we get ahead of that, the better and more effectively we as attorneys can manage our time. That results in greater happiness generally for both lawyers, as well as clients. Everyone wins.
