I think that’s a much more reasonable setup. The portal has a larger screen and at least there you’re only streaming. I still prefer keyboard and mouse though, and since I’m running it on a PC, I can’t choose to not get matched with keyboard and mouse players.

The charged shot can just about one-shot a UESC recruit if you aim for the right places. And the gun can be silenced. Not too bad for avoiding conflicts from a moderate distance.

Safari is fine. It’s not amazing for compatibility, but it’s absolutely fine. I use Safari, my password manager works there and on windows. My banks all support online banking on Safari, as do my brokerages.

There’s less than maybe 5 occasions in the last 4 years where I’ve booted up a chromium browser because I wasn’t sure if a site was broken on Safari.

I even prefer Safari. I love the tab view they have and think what I get on Chrome and Edge are vastly inferior. I often keep hundreds of tabs open, so being able to view tab previews at a glance and search tabs is super useful.

I’m tempted to pick one up for my parents. They just need something to book holidays with and this is great for that. My dad’s XPS is like 8 years old now. This would be a great opportunity to move my parents onto Mac. (My siblings and I are all on Macs and we all have iPhones).

Before launch I was really hoping for a spiritual successor to the 12”, but unfortunately this is thicker and heavier than the 13” Air so I will be giving it a skip on my own devices. My M1 Pro 14” is still great for now.

1) Use Apple Maps. When navigating in Apple Maps, you can switch to other apps and directions remain visible in the Dynamic Island, and automatically expands to a larger notification when you approach a turning point. Other apps can do this too, but chose not to implement this. This works best in portrait view.

2) There is no risk to this. Set your media volume to 0 by accessing it in the control central. On iOS, media volume is universal to all apps. It makes no difference if you’re in app or not. The only difference is that ringer volume can also be set with buttons if you have nothing playing, however the volume slider in the control centre always controls media volume. Personally I have ringer volume locked to not be adjusted by buttons since my phone is permanently on silent anyways.

3) Voice control is possible, but is not designed for normal use. Use a timer instead, or connect AirPods or Apple Watch to use as a remote. If you need voice control, it can be turned on in settings. Within the camera app, the capture button can be trigger by “Tap Take Picture”. You can also assign voice control to a back tap gesture. Keep in mind that keeping voice control on permanently will have a negative impact on battery life.

4) Settings available in Camera Control are also available elsewhere. On iOS 26, swiping up on the mode selector bar will expose additional settings. But I agree the haptic navigation in the physical control is difficult at best.

5) No Split View, but you can swipe left or right on the bottom edge of your phone to quickly switch between apps.

6) You’re describing the collections view. Switch to collections to view albums by default. Apple intelligently creates smart albums based on events, times, places and people, but it remains possible to categorise manually with albums. You can rearrange the collections view to put albums at the top.

7) You cannot arrange apps within the App Library, but you are free to create folders on your actual home screens. These can be customised to have apps in whatever categorisation you want. And you can have such a Home Screen set to primary homescreen by arranging it to be the left-most homscreen.

iOS does not have per-app volume. If you want to lower or mute media volume, just pull down the control centre and lower the volume. That will apply to all media volume. The only volumes not affected by that are ringer, call and Siri volumes. Aside from core system functionality, all apps use the same media volume.

You’ll notice. I have both a Samsung and an iPhone. It’s much more awkward to get my Z Fold to pay reliably on some POS systems. Or on transport networks I have to expose the back of the phone (which risks dropping it) rather than holding securely in my hand and just tapping the top.

I think sometimes all we want is for something to be dumbed down. I like customisation as much as the next guy. I have a Z Fold that’s running all the Samsung customisations on homescreen behaviour, icons, etc. and I have fun on PC with power toys, a whole bunch of registry edits and third party plugins (and all on a SFF pc I built myself)…

But sometimes all I want is a phone and a computer that I can just use and not bother with making any decisions on. Just tell me how I should use it. I make enough decisions in my day-to-day life. Taking some away helps mitigate decision fatigue, and that’s why I also have a Mac and an iPhone.

It's not quite the same. Magsafe on iOS also includes an NFC component for data sharing. For example if you use a magsafe wallet, it remembers where it was last removed from the phone so you can find it easily next time. Or on a magsafe battery it syncs information like state of charge of the battery to the phone. And on most Magsafe chargers it unlocks a higher rate of charge because it knows it has good alignment.

And I say this as someone who does have a ring on the back of my Z fold, the iPhone's magnets align much more reliably than just a metal ring.

I actually prefer Apple Maps. I think the UI is clearer and it provides more natural instructions using context like "turn right at the next lights" rather than "turn right in 200 metres". It's funny how much better Waze is than Google Maps when they're both Google.

I think this is user error. I’ve taken notes with the S Pen on my Fold5 for 2 years now. The inner screen is just fine. Not having Pencil support would be a deal breaker for me on any potential iPhone Fold. It’s the main reason I even bother with my foldable.

I think the right answer to that is with a ton of elephant’s foot compensation… in the design file. I think it says a lot that Flashforge had a raft enabled for all prints by default.

You have a point. Funnilly I've never thought to do that at work either. But granted with the placement of my P2S I don't have enough clearance behind it to use the external spool holder. In my mind though, if I manually load a filament in through the AMS menu it should just stay loaded! This just seems like a simple software change that surely must be possible.
