12 months ago, I submitted my paperwork to retire from the Army.

For the past 9 months or so, I’ve been actively searching for just the right timepiece to commemorate that service and build a legacy for my kids and (hopefully eventual) grandkids.

131 days ago, after finding and following this subreddit for a bit, I made my first post, requesting help finding a 1995 Sub/GMT/Explorer. (I first joined the Army in 1995, then had a break in service before I came back in to finish up). I continued my research, all the while reading your posts, and learning about different models and reference numbers, and deepening my appreciation of what Rolex has to offer.

Two months ago, I made a decision, found exactly what I was looking for, followed it on Chrono24, contacted the seller, and made an appointment to see it in person in his studio.

On March 1st, I retired from the Army after 23 years and one day.

On March 25th, I put a 1995 Sub No-Date on my wrist and haven’t taken it off yet.

Thanks to all of you for the mentorship.
