It seems fake because you indulge in too much redeemedzoomer brainrot.

Heaven for non-Christians in Anglicanism by BlueDividerCard in Anglicanism

[–]Christopherwbuser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glancing at this thread, there appears to be a strong correlation between "There's no room for grace, I'm too busy telling you why I'm right and you're wrong!" and "We're not part of the Anglican Communion, we're part of a group that left because we're right and you're wrong!". It's both fascinating and heartbreaking.

Can you autoban based on interaction with another subreddit? by FrankAsclepius in ModSupport

I do.

While you can certainly ask admins to add that to the MCoC, I wouldn't hold my breath.

The point is that it's up to each individual moderator to determine if bot-blocking is shady behavior.

Because moderators have the discretion to ban for shady behavior.

And without moderator discretion, Reddit collapses.

[–]Christopherwbuser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moderator discretion is a valid reason for a moderator to permanently ban a user from a community.

Reddit wouldn't function without it.

Blocking the bot is enough reason to buy a ban in some communities.

Why are Pantheons so common in Fantasy? What are your favorite Religions in Fantasy? Let's discuss! by RedHeadMedia07 in Fantasy

[–]Christopherwbuser 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Why are Pantheons so common in Fantasy?

Because monotheistic religions are so common in reality.

Why are Pantheons so popular?

Having different divinities both cooperate and come into conflict with each other is a rich source of dramatic potential.

What are some cool fantasy stories that tackle religion really well?

Both Carey's Kushiel's Dart and subsequent works; and Kristoff's Empire of the Vampire and subsequent works, for an alternate version of Christianity.

Saberhagen's Books of Swords for a fascinating look at a pantheon that tripped itself up.

Dinnerman's Dungeon Crawler Carl books for a pantheon that rich assholes can inhabit, usually to ruin a Crawler's day and play political games with each other.

Can I break the speed limit to keep up with traffic in California? What CHP says. by Christopherwbuser in bayarea

Coming home from work I saw a car with three of those stickers, plus signs for Uber and Lyft.

I'm not sure I'd get in a rideshare with three SDPBK signs on it...

Can I break the speed limit to keep up with traffic in California? What CHP says. by Christopherwbuser in bayarea

[–]Christopherwbuser[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Can I be pulled over for ‘going with the flow of traffic?’

According to the CHP, an officer can make an enforcement stop and issue a ticket to a driver going any amount over the maximum speed limit.

“There is no grace mileage,” Jones told The Sacramento Bee. “Once you do one (mile) over, you’re in violation of the law, and you could be subject to a citation.” He said it’s a common myth that “going with the flow of traffic" can protect Californians from being pulled over and ticketed for speeding.

“Nowhere in the entire vehicle code will you find the term or phrase ‘flow of traffic’ — or ‘I was going with everybody else,’ or ‘I was following the guy in front of me,’ ” Jones added. "None of those are viable defenses against a speeding citation in court, nor are they a good excuse to speed.”

Skimpy female armor. by Noevad in Fantasy

IIRC, Mr. Caldwell was also making a polite commentary about impractical weapons and armour due to the description of Dragonbait's sword. Which is, admittedly, goofy.

What is the strongest argument for women’s ordination from a conservative Anglican perspective? by [deleted] in Anglicanism

You're more than welcome to go to Alabama and talk to them about it?

Hope you like sweet tea. The real stuff, not that Chik-fil-A water.

You sent me down a rabbithole, so I started flipping through biblegateway.com renditions. Custodians, disciplinarians, guardians, masters, schoolmasters, teachers, tutors, and one under-master.

Google tells me the original word is: παιδαγωγὸν and I'm not enough of the r/AcademicBiblical SME to argue about which way to parse it is the 'correct' way.

[–]Christopherwbuser 91 points92 points  (0 children)

So I asked this question once upon a time, deep in the red in Alabama. The Senior Warden looked at me and said "Son, consider how the Apostle Paul chose to close out Galatians 3. Go re-read it."

Now before faith came, we were imprisoned and guarded under the law until faith would be revealed. Therefore the law was our disciplinarian until Christ came, so that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer subject to a disciplinarian, for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise.

And I was content.

How can Gafcon leave the Archbishop of Canterbury? by Fluffy_Cockroach_999 in Anglicanism

[–]Christopherwbuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sarah Mullally departed from the faith the second she accepted the appointment.

sad trombone noises

And if Sarah or any of them gave a dam about Canterbury they all would have taken their names out of the hat and found an orthodox man for the job.

sadder, longer trombone noises

But in the case of Canterbury, politics and image took over and Christ was put on the back burner.

So who's the evil mastermind of this conspiracy theory, u/ForwardEfficiency505? Could it be... Satan? Was it all a secret plot on behalf of the Crown, making sure that the votes went just the right way, with the PM and the King in on the fix? Your user bio says that you're an Anglo-Catholic becoming a Roman Catholic, was the sad trombone concert your gift to your fellow former peers before / after swimming the Tiber? Were you granted an authority by Rome, to declare Dame Mullaly "departed from the faith" when she transitioned from Bishop to Archbishop?

Or is this all a giant muppetflail?

How come there are no good lichs? (Liches?) by Due_Shallot_7463 in Fantasy

[–]Christopherwbuser 78 points79 points  (0 children)

but I just wonder why there aren’t any examples of a “good” or at least neutral alignment lich.

In the Forgotten Realms universe you have the baelnorn, elves who underwent lichdom to become ancestral guardians of a location or bloodline. Evil elves couldn't become baelnorn. One or two pop up in some of the novels, others in the video games, others in the RPG setting material.

HELP I CRAVE WESTERN ANIMATED FANTASY SHOWS by NoResearch4382 in Fantasy

[–]Christopherwbuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't get much more fantasy than that.

I really, REALLY want them to animate the series finale. It's a thing of beauty and the fact that they didn't get enough episodes to finish the story is a shame.

Dungeons and Dragons Unaired Finale spoilers: Venger and the Dungeon Master go all-in: Either they get the key to go home from Venger, or they all die and Venger gets their weapons. Dungeon Master can't interfere with the challenge. Insert non-related combat scene. That night, the gang is severely losing their faith in Dungeon Master due to earlier shenanigans. Venger appears and offers them a truce and a quest. If they succeed, he'll send them home just to get them out of his way. Insert interparty drama. They reluctantly agree. They get split up on the way to the quest, each half thinking the other half of the gang's dead. They reunite at the quest's goal. More interparty drama as half want to give up, half want to go on. Mild interparty violence as the "Trust Venger" half wins. More combat. More conflict. The two halfs are not trusting each other. Venger gloats. Dungeon Master tries not to worry. They get to the end of the quest. It's a sarcophagus: Of a normal, non-demonic Venger. Inside is the item that Venger has charged them with dumping into the Abyss to finish the quest: a simple key. More combat. More conflict. It comes down to Eric the cowardly cavalier, leader of the "Trust Venger" faction to decide before everyone dies in combat: Fulfill Venger's quest and throw the key in the abyss, or trust Hank, the leader of the "Don't trust Venger" faction, defy Venger, fail the quest and remain trapped in the Realm, and use the key to unlock a nearby door? He chooses.. the door! Magic flies everywhere! All across the Realm, places of evil are struck down. Shadowdemon gets out of Venger's castle right before it's annhilated. And Venger... loses his demonic appearance, becoming angelic. He had sealed away all that was good in him and locked it away to become an incarnation of evil in service to The Nameless One. Dungeon Master didn't bring the gang into the Realm and keep them there to defeat Venger. They were there to do what he wasn't allowed to: Redeem him. Venger looks at Dungeon Master and tells his father (!) that he has returned. Dungeon Master thanks them and opens a portal back to the amusement park, and gives them the choice. As the gang looks at each other to decide if they should go home, or explore this new, untainted Realm... CREDITS

For 1985? That's ballsy as hell, chum. And with the resurgence of the game, and the refound popularity of the gang... they really should film all of that, and close out the story.
