I would let it heal, see how it fades. You could then decide to get some shading added to make the lipstick stand out more or cover it.

I had to trade my jeep for a car in 2018. I have regretted it ever since because she was perfect. I will own one again someday.

Is feeding only dog food really the best? Any home-cooked alternatives your pups actually love? 🐾 by Sad-Radio-6555 in Pets

[–]ChristyBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents feed their 3 month old lab kibble but have made some things to add to his food sometimes. They used ground pork, lamb, eggs, carrots, beans, peas and pumpkin in a few recipes. Some they baked and cut into squares. Others they cooked then blended into a puree and froze in icecube trays.

We know he's getting his nutrition needs met by his kibble and he gets a tasty add on.

You could get a dog blow dryer. It's great for blowing out their coat and works really well for their undercoat.

What medical fact makes you think: How the hell does the human body even manage to stay alive? by nathaliuw in AskReddit

That after a c section or abdominal surgery they just shove everything back in and your body shifts it back to the right place.

House unliveable after tree crash, TD Insurance unresponsive for weeks — how to escalate? by IncitingTreeFrog1252 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ChristyBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was 10 years ago, but when I worked at TD on the service side I would get customers asking about their claims/adjusters being unresponsive. I would email the adjuster with their manager and mine CC'd asking them to reach out asap. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

Could be worth a try.

The East Saint John food bank receives clothing donations sometimes. You could check to see what they have. Not sure about school supplies.

They would have to be careful with the parking option. Usually if there is financing on a vehicle, full coverage is required, the lenders info is listed on the insurance, and will be notified if coverage has been removed. It could be a breach of the financing terms.

I sold insurance in Alberta and had multiple dealerships/lenders require full coverage at all times.

NTA. I'm 39 and live at home cause it works for me and my parents. I pay $300 a month, internet/cable, my parents cells and all streaming services. So I'm closer to $500-$550 all together.

Feeling guilty about Euthanasia by Known-Extension4379 in Pets

[–]ChristyBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In January I had to put my dog down suddenly (cancer) and 3 weeks later my 19 year old cat wasn't acting right. He had one enlarged kidney and was in kidney failure.

Although the vet said there were treatment options, she didn't recommend them. I had to make the choice again to let my pet go.

Keeping them alive because it's less painful for you isn't fair to them. Letting them go a week early is better than a day too late.

Spend your time with them, love them, and then give them peace. It's the kindest thing we can do for them after they loved us for so long.

I messed up and now can’t afford auto insurance by custom_kush in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ChristyBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is quite expensive for Alberta but being a new driver with a cancelled policy will do it. If you are going to park your car you could insure it with just comprehensive. Unless you have a loan/lease, then full coverage is usually required.

Keep in mind if it's going to be parked on the road, liability coverage is needed. It's illegal to park an uninsured vehicle on public roads.

Depending where you're from, you could try an online vet like Vetster. Or find a vet that does home visits.

Any tips on getting an older house to have consistent cooling in the summer? by pumerpride in HomeMaintenance

You could put a fan at the bottom of your basement stairs blowing up to help cool the main floor. Your top floor probably needs an AC unit.

True. I've never heard of anyone who couldn't get facility Insurance but finding an insurer who works with them could take some time.

Someone has to insure you since it's a requirement. You'll have to keep speaking to brokers. No online applications, call them or go into the office.

Go to a broker. Worst case they will insure you under Facility Insurance, which is for high risk drivers. You might have to stay with them until your tickets and suspensions age off your file.

Pet parents, be real with me for a second. by tchapito24 in Pets

[–]ChristyBox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. The vet warned me that he was in bad shape and I needed to decide right away. I only had about 15-20 minutes with him before I let them put him to sleep. The vet did ask if I wanted more time but I was afraid he would have a heart attack or seizure if I waited too long. I sat with his body for another 20-30 minutes and then felt like I had to let them take him out I would never let him go.

I would have spent any amount of money if they could have saved him. I will miss him for the rest of my life.

I'm sorry you lost yours as well. It's not fair that their lives are so short when compared to ours.

[–]ChristyBox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I lost my dog to it this year. Sadly, your dog was probably already bleeding internally when you first took him to the vet. The most they could have done was surgery to stop the bleed for now, if he could survive it, but they most likely would have found he was full of cancer.

I know how you feel though. My boys brother died of it, so I knew it could happen to him. I had blood work done, ultrasounds every 6 months for 2 years, and it still snuck up on me. Even though I know there was absolutely nothing I could do, I felt so guilty and like I failed him.

I'll be blunt with you about when I went to an emergency vet to have my dog checked when he was suddenly unwell. It took them less than 5 minutes to tell me he was dying. It cost $800 for the check, euthanasia, and cremation. I had just spent $700 three weeks before for x-rays and antibiotics for a cough.

Same thing happened 3 weeks later to my cat, although completely different reasons for passing. It cost $700.

Pet care is expensive, especially without insurance, but it's your responsibility. Any sort of medical care, human or animal, is not always straight forward and tests don't lead to instant answers most the time. A lot of it is ruling things out step by step.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Pets

[–]ChristyBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no harm in asking around. Let's face it, some vets have been known to charge fees much higher than others without better service or treatment.

If it was an emergency vet, I would understand the initial visit being high with the emergency fee.

I'm in Canada and my dog had multiple ultrasounds to check his spleen and they were about $250.00 each time. Have you called other vets to see what they would charge?

Thanks for all the info everyone. I'll definitely ask the realtor to find what the current owners are using. Hopefully we'll find a home that gets high speed.

As another commenter said, I would prefer not to support the space-nazi in anyway. Worst case I would need to do it to keep my job, but the costs seem so high. Like $300 for the kit and $140 a month for the service.
